C h u r c h L i f e U p d a t e s Mid-Week Classes Cancelled This Week: Work crews will be replacing the flooring in the lower level of our educational building this week. Therefore, there will be no classes for children, youth or adults this Wednesday night (10/14). The hand bell choir and the sanctuary choir will still have rehearsal. Handy at Sewing?: We are updating our nursery and in need of someone handy with a sewing machine to cover the current window seat cushions (preferably in a primary color). If you would be willing to volunteer your talent, please see Jessica Simandle. Mile of Pennies Offering for Baptist Children s Home: During the month of October, Calvary will seek to collect a Mile of Pennies ($844.80) to support the life-changing ministries of the Baptist Children s Home of North Carolina. We plan to get our children and youth actively involved in this offering, so you may see them standing at entrances and visiting classes to collect your spare change. Thanks for helping us make a difference in the lives of those who benefit from this important work. Casting Call: Calvary ACTS!, our church s acting troupe, is calling for any who wish to join us. We meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. to work on plays and skits, both serious and humorous for special events and Sunday services. There will be speaking and non-speaking parts, along with behind the scenes work. If you are interested, please contact Sheri George or David Stone. We re already working on a short Christmas play so come join us! Youth Yard Sale & Car Wash: On Saturday, October 17, our youth will sponsor a Yard Sale and Car Wash from 6:30-11:30 a.m. to raise funds for the Operation Christmas Child ministry. If you have something you d like to donate, please bring it to the church beginning Wednesday, October 14. If you cannot bring your items, please contact the church office to arrange pickup. We are also seeking volunteers to help us price items and run the yard sale. For more information, contact Alex Bracey. Goodies for Fall Festival: It is time to think about candy, cakes and pies for our kids Fall Festival on October 28! If you would like to assist, we are in need of bulk bags of wrapped candy as well as cakes and pies from our wonderful bakers! The baked goods will be used during the cake walk game. Please contact Alex Bracey if you can help the children s ministry with these items. Thank you!
