MBC November 2016 Volume 24, No. 11 Rev. Jimmy Lancaster, Pastor The POWER of a Simple Gift Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world. It is an easy missions project that every member and family can participate in by bringing a gift-filled shoebox to church over the next two weeks. Complete details are outlined in the OCC brochure located on the table in the Narthex. Once you fill your shoeboxes, bring them to church on or before our INGATHERING on Sunday, Nov 13! Your expression of LOVE does make a difference in the LIFE of a child and reveals to them the true GIFT of Christmas. As you pack your shoebox... Please DO NOT INCLUDE any used or damaged items, chocolate or food, liquids or lotions, medications or vitamins, aerosol cans, war-related items like toy guns, knives, military figures, Harry Potter or Pokémon and breakable items like snow globes, glass containers. Fill your shoebox with fun toys, hygiene items (place soap & washcloth in Ziploc bag), candy (tootsie rolls, gum, mints, lollipops), clothing (underwear, socks, t-shirt, croc type shoes), puzzles & picture books, school supplies & a WOW toy such as a doll, stuffed animal, watch, jewelry, sports ball & pump, etc. Most importantly, PRAY for the child who will receive your shoebox & consider including a personal note and photo. Last year, we collected 112 shoeboxes...we ve set a GOAL of 125 shoeboxes and it can easily be reached if each family would simply pack ONE more than last year. The cost of shipping the shoeboxes has generously been donated by our Sisters in Christ!! It is their desire for YOU to do as many shoeboxes as you can...this way many children will experience the POWER of the message of Christmas!!

WMU of Yadkin Baptist Association invites the ladies of our area churches to participate in their annual Prayer Retreat, Saturday, Nov. 5, at 10 am Zion Baptist Church Speaker - Jessica Lancaster Sharing about her experience this past summer in Ghana; afterwards, there will be a light brunch served. On Sunday, Nov. 6, we ll have a special called conference to Vote to Adopt the Proposed 2017 Ministry Budget. It s an overall increase of 2.8% = $ 6,918 or a $133.04 increase a week. Our budget reflects the vision & goals of our church. When you vote YES to adopt this proposed budget, you are saying to God, I will GIVE my FIRST and BEST gift to Him in support of funding the financial needs of Missions & Ministries of MBC! Keeping You Informed Remember to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday, Nov. 5. You ll enjoy an extra hour of rest, so you can be refreshed for Sunday School and Worship on Sunday! MBC 2nd Annual Chili Cook Off Fundraiser Wednesday, Nov. 16, 6:30 pm Fellowship Building Pull out the cookbooks and get those crockpots ready as we prepare for a fun night to enjoy secret recipes of CHILI and RAISE money for PROJECT R.A.C.K. All proceeds will benefit our Christmas Eve Gas Give-A-Way There were several actions taken at our recent Church Conference on Wednesday, Oct 26. We agreed to pledge to become a Wall of Faith Partner in the construction of the SECU Hospice Home of Yadkin. This opportunity ($ 500 per year for 5 years = $ 2,500) was developed as a way for churches to financially support the vitality of this new Hospice Home. Our partnership will show our community that MBC cares about end of life care within our community. Mountain Valley Hospice will come and photograph our church & facilities and compose two framed prints. One will be placed on the Wall of Faith and the other given to the church. We decided the time for our upcoming Christmas Eve Service (6:30 pm) and Christmas Day Worship at 10:30 am with NO Sunday School. 8th Annual Chicken Stew & Auction For New Hope Pregnancy Care Portion of Sales supports Forbush Marching Band This year s store is located inside Collide Church at 234 E. Main Street in Downtown Yadkinville. You will be able to purchase their famous Sugar Cake, Moravian Cookies, Cheese Straws, Gift Baskets and much more!! The store will OPEN beginning Monday, Nov. 14, and the LAST day is Dec 24. They will be open (Mon-Sat), 9 am till 6:30 pm & (Sun), Dec 11 & 18, 2 till 6:30 pm.

On Saturday, Oct. 29, (just this one day) over 450 volunteers worked at NCBM Disaster Relief sites in 11 locations from Lumberton to Windsor. They assisted in preparing 8,390 hot meals in our 2 field kitchens and 25 jobs were completed. Approx. 41,000 homes were affected in the eastern part of NC by Hurricane Matthew. We will not be able to help them all; however, we will help those who need it most. WE NEED YOU to HELP! Our Yadkin Baptist Association is organizing teams to go & work out of the Red Springs facility. Dennis is looking for volunteers for Nov. 28-30 or Dec. 5-7 (Leave at 8 am on Mon. & return by 1 pm on Wed.) or Dec. 1-3 (Leave at 8 am on Thurs. & return by 2 pm on Sat.). There is NO COST for room & meals and you will receive ON the JOB training. You will be doing work in the Lumberton, Pembroke and Red Springs area. Please contact Dennis at the YBA office (336) 679-8731 as soon as possible, so he can take care of coordinating with Jay & Ashley Baugham. Sunday, Nov 20 10:30 am Service A skeptic, a struggling teen, and a woman hiding from her past reach a moment of truth. Watch their stories, interwoven with a powerful message from Franklin Graham on life s most important decision. This election, we have the opportunity to decide who leads our nation. It is extremely important, because the leaders we elect, will determine our future on several key issues. Over the last few years, the freedoms we ve grown to cherish are under attack. We must become engaged & vote! In 2012, it s estimated there were at least 25 million Christians, who love God and believe in the Bible, but did not vote. If we want to see America return to her Godly heritage, we must pray & act now! We can change the future of our nation and see America truly be one nation under God. Vote Your Values Tuesday, Nov 8 DECORATING for CHRISTMAS The Decorating Committee will be working to transform our facilities to reflect the joyous season of Christmas from November 21-23. If you would like to help, please see Frances. The churches of our YBA are sponsoring a Veterans Appreciation Supper at Courtney Baptist. It is for all Veterans and their spouses, who attend our YBA churches. The menu will be BBQ, Baked Beans, Slaw, Rolls, Dessert & Drink. Sign up sheet on MBC mailbox table. Friday, Nov 11 4 till 6 pm RECEIVE THIS OFFERING through November 13 As ONE This year s theme The Great I Am is taken from Jesus words recorded in John 8:12, I AM the light of the world. We have the opportunity to shine the light of Jesus into the lives of North Carolina children and families and provide them a safe, caring home. Nearly 80% of the children & families, who are served by the Baptist Children s Homes, are unreached for Christ! Your participation makes this change possible and helps BCH fulfill their mission of helping hurting children...healing broken families. When you give to the BCH Thanksgiving Offering, you make it possible for BCH to introduce The Great I Am to those within their care. Last year, hope & healing was shared with 21,876 children and families!! Visit www.bchfamily.org/offering Justin will be preaching in revival at Sandy Springs Baptist Church, Sunday (Nov. 6) through Wednesday (Nov. 9). The service times are 7 pm on Sunday and 7:30 pm on Monday Wednesday. We will be taking the church van on Sunday & Wednesday evenings. If you re interested in going, we will leave from MBC at 6:15 pm (Sun., Nov. 6) and 6:45 pm (Wed., Nov. 9). The address for the church is 2930 Sandy Springs Rd, Harmony, NC 28634 and phone # (704) 546-7741.
