THE TRUE GOSPEL 100 SCRIPTURES ABOUT THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church 38523 730 th Street Lakefield, MN 56150 (507) 839-3086 web-site: www.trinitysv.com Pastor: Rev. Gerald Gauthier II E-mail: Jerry946@yahoo.com (Pastor s office hours; Mon., Wed. Fri. 8:30 am-12:00 pm at Trinity Tuesday 9:30 am 11:30 am at Concordia.) Organists: Shirley Finnern and Leyla Fischer Church Secretary: Shannon Stone (712) 210-6478 E-mail: tlcsv@hotmail.com

As We Gather Many of us suffer from "selective hearing," that is, we hear mostly what we want to hear. A person who can't hear something spoken distinctly and directly to his face may hear every word spoken behind his back from the next room. Even when it is our Lord speaking, Satan works to block out or pervert the message. Our prayer this day is that God would open our hearts and ears to hear the pure message of the Gospel, and that forgiveness reigns with life for us as His children. Prayer Upon Entering Church Save, O Lord, for the godly one is gone; for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man. Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak. May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that makes great boasts, those who say, With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us? You, O Lord, will keep us; you will guard us from this generation forever. Psalms 12:1-4, 7 Preparation for communion LSB 329 Who can come to communion? Those belonging to an L.C.M.S. congregation are welcomed and encouraged to partake of the Lord s Supper with us. We do care about the spiritual wellbeing of others present, but ask that you please refrain out of love for this fellowship and make adequate time to speak with the pastor or elder prior to the service. Catechism Review What will happen to this world after we Christians are raise from the dead? (Field Test Catechism Question #200) The present creation, like our own bodies, will be set free from its bondage to corruption and a new heaven and a new earth will come forth. 7th Sunday after Pentecost July 23, 2017 Introit Give ear, O LNOP, to my prayer;* listen to my plea for grace. Teach me your way, O LNOP, that I may walk in your truth;* unite my heart to fear your name. I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,* and I will glorify your name for- ever. For great is your steadfast love toward me;* you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. O God, insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seek my life,* and they do not set you be- fore them. But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious,* slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Give ear, O LNOP, to my prayer;* listen to my plea for grace. Collect of the Day O God, so rule and govern our hearts and minds by Your Holy Spirit that, ever mindful of Your final judgment, we may be stirred up to holiness of living here and dwell with You in perfect joy hereafter; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Gradual Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowl- edge of God!* How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! For from him and through him and to him are all things.* To him be glory forever. Amen.

Isaiah 44:6-8 Thus says the LNOP, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LNOP of hosts: I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god. Who is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and set it before me, since I appointed an ancient people. Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen. Fear not, nor be afraid; have I not told you from of old and declared it? And you are my witnesses! Is there a God besides me? There is no Rock; I know not any. Romans 8:18-27 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 [Jesus] put another parable before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also. And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds? He said to them, An enemy has done this. So the servants said to him, Then do you want us to go and gather them? But he said, No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn. Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field. He answered, The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed is the children of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the close of the age, and the reapers are angels. Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire, so will it be at the close of the age. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear. Prayer of the Church Let us pray for the whole Church of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs. (Each petition concludes with the pastor saying Let us pray to the Lord and the congregation responding, Lord have mercy. )

ANNOUNCEMENTS Next Sundays Readings: July 30, 8th Sunday after Pentecost - Deuteronomy 7:6-9, Romans 8:28-39, and Matthew 13:44-52 Reformation 500 Weekly Thought: Pray thus: Oh my God, thou hast placed Christ, thine only beloved Son, before me as an example, so that I might lead a like life; but I am not able to do this. O my God, change me, grant me thy grace! God then comes and says: Behold, since you know yourself and seek grace from me, I will change you and do as you desire. And though you are not so perfect as Christ, as indeed thou should be, I shall nevertheless have my Son's life and perfection cover your imperfections. So you see we must always have something to keep us in the right humility and fear.
