Facilitators: please email meeting information to bulletin@stcatherineop.com This week, we hope you will make a prayerful decision to pledge a gift to the 2018 Bishop s Annual Stewardship Appeal. The theme of this year s Appeal invites us to give of all our gifts in thanksgiving. As good stewards of these gifts, we discover that giving and sharing of ourselves is how we express gratitude for all of our blessings. Stewardship is an act of faith, and should be at the heart of our lives as faithful and active members of the Church. It means we are ready to recognize all that we are and all that we have are gifts from God. How will you respond today to all of the gifts He has given to you? Welcome! March 3, 2019 Page 7 Operation Rice Bowl kicks off next week! Social Ministry Driven by our faith, we are committed to help those in need no matter where they may live. CRS Rice Bowl is the Lenten program of Catholic Relief Services, the official relief and development agency of the USCCB. Through CRS Rice Bowl, faith communities in every diocese throughout the US put their faith into action through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Lenten alms donated through CRS Rice Bowl support the work of CRS in roughly 45 different countries each year.. Since its inception in 1975, CRS Rice Bowl has raised nearly $300 million. In that spirit: 75 % of your gift supports CRS programs around the world. Some examples include: Agriculture projects help farmers improve harvests Water & sanitation projects bring clean water to communities Microfinance projects support small businesses Mother & child health projects offer health & nutrition services Education projects provide resources & training 25% of your donations go to hunger efforts in our own community by supporting the St. Francis Soups Kitchens. Faith Formation Students will receive a Rice Bowl in their formation class and they will be in the available in the Narthex. We need you to make this years Rice Bowl a success! SOUPER SUPPER RETURNS! Our parish will once again host Lenten Souper Suppers Why do we do them? Who does it help? Why should I come? The First purpose is to feed the Hungry; in our case the donations we receive go to fund meals we serve at the Sulzbacher Center. We serve over 400 plates of food each month. The Second to build community among our parishioners. The Third is to give people a new awareness of the problem of hunger and an experience of being a little hungry themselves. And Finally and maybe the most important it is to invite people to become active in their faith. Bonus! Each week after Souper Supper the Stations of the Cross will be prayed in the Church at 7:00pm Our first Souper Supper will be this Friday, March 8 Join our host the Knights and the Lady Knights. On the Menu Pasta Fagioli and the Ladies famous Tortilla Soup Annunciation Catholic School Preparing Our Youth for the Eucharistic Congress Student Council is excited about participating in a service project for the Eucharistic Congress. Our students will put together "Blessing Bags" that will be distributed to the homeless with a prayer card that invites them to spend some time with Jesus. We would like to ask our families to start collecting these items: Travel size toothpaste and toothbrush Lotion Deodorant Wet wipes Hand sanitizer Snacks and Gallon size Ziploc bags If you would like to contribute, you may bring your donations marked for Annunciation School to the parish office. Together, we can all make a difference! 26th Annual Annunciation Catholic School Jog-a-Thon! Friday March 29 9 am-11 am ACS Track The ACS Jog-a-Thon is the BIGGEST student fundraiser of the year!
