SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME ALTAR GIFTS OF BREAD AND WINE THIS WEEK OFFERED FOR DANIEL DUNN SUNDAY COLLECTION BASKET JULY 22, 2018 First Reading: Jeremiah 23:1-6 In this passage, God denounces false leaders who have scattered his people. He promises that they will be reunited and led by one who is just and wise. Second Reading: Ephesians 2:13-18 Paul explains that through Jesus Christ, there is no longer hostility between Gentile and Jew. Instead, through the Spirit of Christ, both groups become one body and are equal in the eyes of God. Gospel: Mark 6:30-34 The apostles returned after their first mission and told Jesus what they had done and taught. He told them to rest, but the people kept coming to them. So they went to find a private place, but the people learned where they were going and arrived first. Jesus felt sorry for them and decided to teach them instead of resting. ***************************************************** HERE S WHAT S COMING UP THIS WEEK JULY 23RD - 29TH MONDAY-7/23 - St. Bridget TUESDAY-7/24 St. Sharbel WEDNESDAY-7/25 St. James THURSDAY- 7/26 St. Joachim & Anne FRIDAY- 7/27 Weekday SATURDAY 7/28 - Weekday SUNDAY 7/29- Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time ******************************************************** SANCTUARY LAMP WILL BURN FROM JULY 22ND - 28TH EILEEN COYLE JULY 15, 2018 - $ JULY 16, 2017 - $ 8,618 THE SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEK IS FOR THE PARISH FINANCE ASSESSMENT MONDAY 9:00 AM Mary Lever 7/23 12:10 PM Bridie O'Malley TUESDAY 9:00 AM Vincent Zezima 7/24 12:10 PM Mary Lever WEDNESDAY 9:00 AM William Healey 7/25 12:10 PM Kevin Pettus THURSDAY 9:00 AM Cecilia Favareau 7/26 12:10 PM Joan O'Brien FRIDAY 9:00 AM Kelly & Vaughn Fams. 7/27 12:10 PM Evelyn Kelly-Haim SATURDAY 9:00 AM Joseph De Pinto & 7/28 Rose Heim 5:30 PM Louis Sagula & D/M Sagula Family SUNDAY 8:00 AM Parishioners of 7/29 the Parish 10:00 AM Theresa Moriarty 12:00 PM Kevin Pettus 7:00 PM Hanorah Bart + PLEASE REMEMBER IN PRAYER + Janet Valerio, Billy Keenan, Brian Dillon, Charlene Kasnosky, Nicki Kelley, Lisa Shapiro, John Kennedy, Dick Clarke, Alice Luska, Roger Schardt, Brian Casse, Alice Leesha, Steven Lynn, Jason Pritchard, John & Lydia Javora, Fran Zujkowski, Karla Trotta, Martin Connelly, Marvelli Family, Alan Handsman, John Dodd, Kathleen Boriello, Emily Gulino, Beatrice Dillon, Jim Russell, Jessica Maloney, Frank Sheridan, Bill

RENEW AND REBUILD UPDATE PARKING/DRIVEWAY PROJECT We have recently completed some much needed driveway repairs and patching work to the church parking area. Our parish asphalt quilt keeps gaining more and more patches each year. However, this will, hopefully, be the last of the patch work. As you know, our next Renew & Rebuild project entails the complete refurbishment of our entire church driveway and parking area. This is a project which is both extensive as well as expensive and, I m sure you will all agree, very necessary. Phase of this project necessitated the hiring of a site engineer to review our site plans and take some sample borings of what lies beneath the parking lots. After checking with our local town authorities, the site engineer will develop schematics which will serve as a guideline for the work which has to be done. We need all of our bidders to fully understand the scope of the project so that they are all on the same page in developing their bids. Sometime in August, we should soon be in a position to contact three different paving companies in order to solicit their bids for this capital project. As I previously stated, this is a major undertaking which involved excavation work, new subterranean drainage and the rebuilding of a number of trouble areas of the parking and driveway areas before any paving work can begin. With the ongoing advice of our Archdiocesan Aramark representative, we are proceeding very slowing and deliberately because we want to get this right. If well goes well, we anticipate completing the project sometime in the late Fall As always, we are very grateful to all of you who continue to send in your payments to the Renew & Rebuild office. If you ever experience any difficulties with your payment plan, please give us a call at the parish office and we ll be glad to help you out. We are also very grateful for the new pledges which still comes our way every once in a while. Finally, we have been successful in acquiring a number of MATCHING GRANTS from parishioners who work for companies which matching grand programs. This results in found money for our parish. Business men and women are asked to please see if your companies have such a program. If so, we would be very glad to work with you in applying for a matching grant. + ANOINTING OF THE SICK + Please give us a call! Anticipating an upcoming surgery and/or a hospital stay? Undergoing treatments for a serious health condition? Are the years starting to weigh heavily on you and you d like some divine assistance in your ongoing daily efforts? Please ask to receive the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick before or after daily or Sunday mass or right here at the rectory. You may even request a date to be anointed right in your own home. Please don t put it off. Let one of your parish priests know and we would be happy to give you this beautiful and outward sign of God s healing love. (Your priests and deacon would also like to keep you in our prayers.) CARDINAL S ANNUAL STEWARDSHIP APPEAL UPDATE This year s Appeal is now entering the final phase of solicitation. Our assigned parish goal this year is $85,000.00. To date, we have received a total of $59,208.01 in pledges and gifts from 232 households and individuals. That s 71% of our goal to date. When I was hungry, when I was thirsty, when I was naked, when I was ill That you did unto me. ARE WE OBSERVERS OR "DOERS" IN THE ABORTION DEBATE? Are we doing enough? The answer is an emphatic "no" as it is so easy to simply tune out and put this horror out of our minds and sight. Yet, nearly all violence done against human beings involves three types of people: the Perpetrator, the Victim and the Observer. This is sometimes called the "Tragic Triangle" With abortion, the abortionist, in collusion with the parent(s) is the perpetrator, the child is the victim, and the observers are all the rest of us. Some believe that we as observers have an equal or greater responsibility than the perpetrators because we can be more objective and if we were really motivated, we could stop this daily slaughter of the innocents C.
