Presbyterian Church in America COMMUNION SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE MAY 18, 2014
8:15 AM Communion Sunday Order of Worship Prelude Welcome O How He Loves You and Me O how He loves you and me! O how He loves you and me! He gave His life, what more could He give? O how He loves you; O, how He loves me; O how He loves you and me! Jesus to Calvary did go; His love for sinners to show. What He did there brought hope from despair. O how He loves you; O how He loves me; O how He loves you and me! Call to Worship Redeemed Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it! Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb; Redeemed through His infinite mercy, His child, and forever, I am. Refrain Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb; redeemed, redeemed, His child, and forever, I am. I think of my blessed redeemer, I think of Him all the day long; I sing, for I cannot be silent; His love is the theme of my song. I know I shall see in His beauty the King in whose law I delight; who lovingly guardeth my footsteps, and giveth me songs in the night. Offering Prayer Martin Shaffer Offertory Come Let Us Bow Down Choir Doxology Old One Hundredth Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. Confession of Sin and Assurance of Forgiveness Pastoral Prayer
The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Sermon: Barnabas and Saul Called to Go Dan Ratchford Acts 13:1-12 Communion The Old Rugged Cross On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of suffering and shame; and I love that old cross, where the dearest and best for a world of lost sinner was slain. Refrain So I ll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down. I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it someday for a crown. O the old rugged cross, so despised by the world, has a wondrous attraction for me; for the dear Lamb of God left His glory above to bear it to dark Calvary. The Sacrament of the Lord s Supper The Old Rugged Cross In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, a wondrous beauty I see; for twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died to pardon and sanctify me. Refrain So I ll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down. I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it someday for a crown. To the old rugged cross I will ever be true; its shame and reproach gladly bear. Then He ll call me someday to my home far away, where His glory forever I ll share. Benediction Postlude Immediately after each service, we invite you to come forward with any prayer need for yourself, family member or friend. The pastors and elders will be up front to pray with you.
10:30 AM Communion Sunday Order of Worship Prelude Welcome Holy Is the Lord We stand and lift up our hands, for the joy of the Lord is our strength. We bow down and worship Him now; how great, how awesome is He! Chorus And together we sing: Holy is the Lord God Almighty, the earth is filled with His glory. Holy is the Lord God Almighty, the earth is filled with His glory, the earth is filled with His glory. Bridge It s rising up all around, it s the anthem of the Lord s renown. Call to Worship The Old Rugged Cross On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of suffering and shame; and I love that old cross, where the dearest and best for a world of lost sinner was slain. Sermon: Barnabas and Saul Called to Go Dan Ratchford Acts 13:1-12 Communion Behold the Lamb Behold the Lamb who bears our sins away slain for us, and we remember the promise made that all who come in faith find forgiveness at the cross. So we share in this Bread of Life, and we drink of His sacrifice as a sign of our bonds of peace around the table of the King. The body of our Savior Jesus Christ, torn for you, eat and remember the wounds that heal, the death that brings us life paid the price to make us one. So we share in this Bread of Life, and we drink of His sacrifice as a sign of our bonds of love around the table of the King. The Sacrament of the Lord s Supper Behold the Lamb The blood that cleanses every stain of sin, shed for you, drink and remember He drained death s cup that all may enter in to receive the Life of God. So we share in this Bread of Life, and we drink of His sacrifice as a sign of our bonds of grace around the table of the King. And so with thankfulness and faith we rise to respond, and to remember our call to follow in the steps of Christ as His body here on earth. As we share in his suffering we proclaim Christ will come again! And we ll join in the feast of heaven around the table of the King. Benediction Postlude Immediately after each service, we invite you to come forward with any prayer need for yourself, family member or friend. The pastors and elders will be up front to pray with you.
