THE ORDER OF MASS The priest returns to the seat (the sedília ), divests himself of the Cope, and dons the Chasuble and Maniple for the Mass, which are the colors of the day: for the Sundays after the Epiphany: Green. He then continues with the Ablutions, during which he purifies the Paten, Ciborium, and Chalice. Having purified the Chalice, the Celebrant now moves to the Epistle side where the Servers pours water and wine over his fingers into the Chalice to purify them.
