Spring Service Times Sunday 9:00 a.m. Sunday School 10:00 a.m. Worship 10:00 am Children s Sunday School No Wednesday Morning Services Scheduled ~ Please remember articles for The Disciple Newsletter are due by the 20 th of each month ~ Happy Spring time! Spring Water, Water Everywhere! When the poor and the needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst, I the Lord will answer them I will open a river on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and on the dry land springs of water. (Is. 41:17-18) During the past two weeks, our area has had storm after storm, bringing cold and wet, sloppy mud. In many areas of our state, there have been record snowfalls. While being inside for many days, my thoughts focused on scriptures which focus upon God s faithfulness and mercy to His beloved children in whatever life s conditions we find ourselves in. The reality is that God is with us through drought years, record levels of snowpack, and every kind of weather between these two extremes. Jesus is with us in all circumstances and is only a prayer away, even in our darkest hour. He also reminds us that He feeds all the birds of the air and that we should trust in Him for our daily needs. If the lilies of the field grow without sprinkler systems, then why can t we humans relax and trust that our perennials will return? We need only to spend some time in the mountains later this month to see acres of yellow arrow balsamroot and purple lupine in bloom fed by trickling snow-melt. They come back in their glory each year without fertilizer, weeding, or breaking them apart. They are His glorious handiwork. As for the voice of Isaiah speaking to us over the centuries, let it be said that this writer boldly proclaimed good news to the Jewish captives during the Babylonian exile. Yahweh would first comfort His flock, and, as Creator and Redeemer, would deliver them out of bondage to return back to their own country. In language that spoke directly to the concerns of people living in desert conditions, Second Isaiah, as this section of this Old Testament book is called, uses the imagery of precious water as an analogy to God s everlasting power and fidelity to His chosen people. Israel would continue to be center stage in the ongoing drama of Israel bringing redemption to all people of the world in the figure of Jesus Christ Himself. Enjoy the miracle of spring as it finally arrives! God s Peace, ~ Veronika ~

Congratulations Audrey & Eva ~~ & thank you Bishop Smylie for a wonderful St. James visit!!!
