James 3:5-6 Season of Ordinary Time Ten o clock June 17, 2018 GOD CALLS US TO WORSHIP Prelude: Voluntary in C Major James Hook O God, My Faithful God [#646] Raymond Haan Welcome and Announcements Call to Worship: The Heart Worships Silence in Heaven, silence on Earth, silence within! Thy hush, oh Lord, o er all the world covers the din. I do not fear to speak of thee in mortal kind, And yet to all thy namelessness, I am not blind. Only I need and kneel again, Thy touch to win. Silence in Heaven, silence on Earth, silence within! Message for Children GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS WORD Blessing for Children Leader: People of God, what is your prayer for these children? Congregation: The Lord be with you. Children: And also with you. Congregation: Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Anthem: Come and Find the Quiet Center B.F. White Come and find the quiet center in the crowded life we lead, Find the room for hope to enter, find the frame where we are freed: Clear the chaos and the clutter, clear our eyes that we can see All the things that really matter, be at peace and simply be. Silence is a friend who claims us, cools the heat and slows the pace, God it is who speaks and names us, knows our being, touches base, Making space within our being, lifting shades to show the sun, Raising courage when we re shrinking, finding scope for faith begun. In the Spirit let us travel, open to each other s pain, Let our loves and fears unravel, celebrate the space we gain: There s a space for deepest dreaming, there s a time for heart to care, In the Spirit s lively scheming there is always room to spare. CHURCH FAMILY Congratulations to Matthew Baas (district 9) and Kaitlyn Primus who were joined in marriage yesterday. CHILDREN AND YOUTH MINISTRIES TLC TEACHERS NEEDED: We are in need of volunteer teachers for the TLC program this summer. The TLC program consists of 2- to 5-year-old children who meet in a classroom during the Sunday morning church service. During the summer months, most of the class time is spent interacting with the children and having play time, with a very short Bible lesson and craft (both are provided) at the end of class. I need at least two volunteers each Sunday, one of whom needs to be at least 18 years old. The following dates are open: June 24, July 1, July 22, July 29, and August 5. Please contact Melanie Burghgraef if you are interested or want to learn more about this fun opportunity! melanieburghgraef@gmail.com or (616) 250-7244.
