Worship 11:00 a.m. (Please turn off all cell phones & pagers) Prelude Prelude on O God Beyond All Praising arr. David M. Cherwien Call to Worship Rudy Torres How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. Psalm 84 Hymn of Praise How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place No. 62, Tune: Azmon (1) How lovely is thy dwelling place, O Lord of hosts to me! The tabernacles of thy grace, how pleasant, Lord, they be! (2) My thirsty soul longs ardently, yea, faints thy courts to see; My very heart and flesh cry out, O living God, for thee. (3) Behold the sparrow findeth out a house wherein to rest; The swallow also, for herself provided hath a nest. (4) Ev n thine own altars, where she safe her young ones forth may bring, O thou, almighty Lord of hosts, who art my God and King. (5) Blest are they in thy house that dwell, they ever give thee praise. Blest is the one whose strength thou art, in whose heart are thy ways. Prayers of the Congregation (Please remain standing for prayer) Kathie Glennie Prayer Response And God will raise you up on eagle s wings, Bear you on the breath of dawn, Make you to shine like the sun, And hold you in the palm of God s hand. A special Lamb s Offering for student assistance fund will be collected right after the story; after that, dismissal of children to Godly Play. Anthem God So Loved the World John Stainer

Responsive Reading Joel 2:28-32 Liana Norheim And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young women will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of Yahweh. And everyone who calls on the name of the Yahweh will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the Yahweh has said, even among the survivors whom the Yahweh calls. March is Women's History Month, and City Church is proud to be participating in its celebration. Around the world and throughout history women have struggled to have their voices heard, whether it is in their own families, society, contributions to culture, science, government, business, and religion. Adventism was born of a spirit-filled woman; the same message given to the patriarchs and prophets were conveyed through a female messenger of God, Ellen G. White. For this reason, City Church does not deny women the right to serve and minister in any capacity. These are the latter days, and the Lord s spirit is poured out on all children (Joel 2:28 32). We hope that you find a renewal of spirit and encouragement this month. The following is an excerpt from the Church Newsletter Church Life, April 1985, of an interview with our first female pastor, Linda Gage.

Church Life All are welcome whoever you are, whatever your journey or background. God excludes no one, and neither do we. Today s flowers are given in by Neilsie Lim in gratitude. Former Southern California Conference President, Larry Caviness, died this week, March 2. Please direct your condolences to: Mrs. Linda Caviness and family, 137 Beckworth Way, Springboro, OH 45066. Or you may express your condolences on Facebook Lifting Larry. Memorial service will be held next Sabbath, March 12 at 4 p.m., Vallejo Drive Church. Come after worship service to the front to tie a prayer knot in two quilts dedicated to Anoosh Keshishzadeh, after the passing of her sister; and for the family of Irena Aghassian, former chaplain at GAMC, who passed away from cancer. Services for Irena will be held Sunday, 10 a.m., at Vallejo Drive Church. Our prayers are with these families, and we thank the Prayers and Squares Ministry for their thoughtful and beautiful quilting work. Flute concert this afternoon, 5 p.m.! See ad in the bulletin. Get to Know the People in Your Church Better This Year! As an inclusive and welcoming congregation, Glendale City Church has a wonderfully diverse group of people who call this church home. In 2016, we are focusing on a different segment of our congregation each month. We hope you enjoy the variety of experiences that will help us grow together in friendship. Prayers & Tax-deductible Donations for Daniel Chaney: Since Daniel is currently unable to work, those wishing to contribute towards his medical and living expenses, can make a tax-deductible donation through the church. Mark the pew envelope Daniel Chaney Medical Fund and place it in the offering plate; or donate online at http://glendalecitychurch.org/donate. (For online giving, you must register with Adventist giving; once you log on, you will see a line item under Local Church that says Daniel Chaney Medical Fund.) Please also keep him in your prayers as he faces ongoing health challenges. You may wish to text him (rather than phone) at 323-556-1424 or send him a card (which we will drop off for you).
