Salem Lutheran Church P O B O X 1 2 8 H I T T E R D A L, M N 5 6 5 5 2 2 1 8-962- 3 2 1 3 M A R C H 2 0 1 9 A Message from Pastor Tom Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return It seems like a morbid way to begin a season of the church year, remembering who we are. Sometimes I think, How could I forget! With all my aches and pains and flaws it seems quite obvious that I am a fragile human being. But, in fact, I do not often remember that I am dust. I don t want to think about it. The sinner in me thinks that I am invincible and will live forever. Lent brings us back to reality. It forces us to examine our true nature and our true predicament. We are dust and to dust we shall return. But we are also children of God, saved by grace and inheritors of eternal life. Good Friday and Easter have seen to that. Between Ash Wednesday and Easter we think about how much we need a savior and we put our trust in Jesus because he also remembers who we are. Have a thoughtful Lent. Pastor Tom 1
