THE MINUTES OF THE 151 ST SESSION OF THE KENTUCKY ANNUAL CONFERENCE Embry Chapel AME Church - Elizabethtown, Kentucky September 27-30, 2018 THURSDAY September 27, 2018 Literary and Action Reports At 3:00pm, Bishop called the Literary and Action Reports session to order and led devotions. Bishop called for the reports: State of the Church The Reverend Kenneth Golphin Social Action, Part 1 The Reverend Kenneth Golphin Social Action, Part 2 The Reverend Sherry Green Following discussion and comments on each, the Literary and Action Reports session ended at 4:55pm. Opening Worship Service The Opening Worship Service of the 151st Session of the Kentucky Annual Conference began at 7:28pm with Presiding Elder William W. Easley, Jr. (Louisville District) as the Worship Leader. The preacher was the Reverend Joshua C. Hale (Saint Matthew AME Church, Midway, KY). The text was John 11:38-44 (Matthew 5:3, Message) for the sermon entitled, Roll the Stone Away! Presentations were made by public officials: City of Radcliff Councilperson Tanya Seabrooks read a proclamation from Mayor J. Michael Weaver. Former City of Radcliff Councilperson Jeannette Stephens greeted the Conference. Brother Chris Wilson, Kentucky Conference Lay Organization President and Member of Embry Chapel Elizabethtown (Host Church), read a proclamation from the Mayor of Elizabethtown, Edna B. Berger; and, presented a proclamation to Bishop Leath from the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Omicron Nu Lambda Chapter (President William A. Campbell) declaring September 27, 2018 Bro. Bishop Jeffrey Nathaniel Leath Day.

Bishop Jeffrey Leath welcomed the following visitors: the Reverend Timothy Brown (COGIC); the visiting clergy from the East Tennessee Annual Conference: Presiding Elder Eva Settles (Chattanooga Knoxville District), Presiding Elder Terence L. Mayes, Sr. (Fayetteville Pulaski District), the Reverend William Howard Smith; the visiting clergy from the West Tennessee Annual Conference: Presiding Elder C. Robert Finch, Sister Gwendolyn Dillihunt (13th Episcopal District Missionary Society President, and Mrs. Jerita Fugh Powell); the Reverend Walter Henry; the visiting clergy from the Tennessee Annual Conference: Presiding Elder Sydney Bryant, Sister Andriette Bryant (WMS Chair of Disaster Relief), the Reverend W. Antoni Sinkfield, the Reverend Randy Brown, the Reverend Randall Webster (Connectional Sons of Allen Recording Secretary), Sister Faye Walker (13 th District WMS Treasurer and Connectional Trustee); Sister Ora Easley (Connectional Administrator of the Clergy Family Information Center); Sister LaTonya Germany (13th Episcopal District YPD Director); the Rev. Bishop Leath acknowledged and welcomed the following out of District Guests: the Reverend Author Quartez (4 th Episcopal District); Sister Sharon Smith Banks (3 rd Episcopal District, Candidate for Connectional WMS Corresponding Secretary); and, the Reverend Dr. Barbara Chisolm (7 th Episcopal District, Candidate for the Episcopacy). The Opening Worship Service concluded at 9:28pm. Opening Business Session At 9:28pm, the Rt. Reverend Jeffrey N. Leath, the Presiding Bishop of the 13 th Episcopal District, called the 151st Session of the Kentucky Annual Conference, hosted by Embry Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to order. Bishop Leath called for the Conference Secretary of the 150 th Session of the Kentucky Annual Conference, the Reverend William R. T. Hale, to call the Roll (see the Roll).
