FEBRUARY 17, 2019 I THE SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME My Dear Parishioners: The Gospel Reading from St. Luke this Sunday should live in our hearts and inform our lives. Our Lord, as the new and true Moses, ascends the mountain to give us his law, his Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes. Just as the Ten Commandments summarize the Old Testament moral teaching into a memorable list, so the Beatitudes in today s Gospel summarize Christ s moral teaching in the New Testament in a way that all believers can constantly remember and meditate upon. So I ask you this week: how do these powerful words challenge you? Where do they make you uncomfortable or reveal some area of growth you need in your life? How do these words comfort you in the midst of your life when you experience poverty, hate, hunger, or when you mourn? Please, have this conversation as a family and let the mind of Christ inform your heart and your life through these Beatitudes. 9:00 & 11:00 Babysitting is available in the Cathedral Center Grace Suite for children ages 6 months 3 years.
