A Message From Our Pastor Dear friends- A very happy Easter to all. Our faith tells us that Easter is the greatest of all Christian feasts. Often, because Christmas tends to be filled with so many wonderful traditions, we sometimes see that feast as being the most significant feast in the Christian calendar. However, if it were not for the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, that early group of Christians would have faded into obscurity. It was because Jesus did rise as He had promised, that those early disciples came to believe that Jesus was in fact the Messiah for whom they looked, and His rising gave them the courage to go forth and preach the Good News and to even have the strength to give up their lives, so convinced were they, that like Christ, they too would rise to new and everlasting life. Each Easter I think about the wonderful people of our parish and so many other parishes. I think about the challenges and struggles so many of us face. Indeed, although we do have many blessings in our lives, most all of us have our share of burdens. So many times throughout His life, Jesus reminded His followers, and reminds each one of us, that this life is not all there is. St. Paul told his fellow Christians that if they lived for this life only, then they, above all people, were to be pitied. This life is imperfect and if we expect it to be perfect, we will be constantly disappointed. Easter reminds us that Jesus walks with us at each moment of our lives both in joy and sorrow and promises Heaven to those who live in faith. It is in Heaven that all our questions will be answered and we will be joined with God and those we have loved here on earth for eternity. Let us rejoice and live in that Easter hope. On behalf of all of you, I express my thanks to all those who worked so hard to make the celebrations of Holy week so prayerful and inspiring. It takes a great deal of effort and planning and I am most grateful to all those who shared their talents and time with us. Thanks too for your support of our Easter collection. As you know, it benefits the retired and ill priests of the Archdiocese, and I know they pray for all of you at a time in their lives when they rely upon you for assistance in their needs. May the peace and joy that the risen Christ brings us guide and strengthen you and your loved ones in the year ahead. Christ is risen He is truly risen. Alleluia. Fr.
