Give thanks to The Lord, for he is good; His mercy endures forever! - Psalm 107 3 Bereavement Support You are invited for Bereavement Support. St. Paul Catholic Parish is offering Four sessions for people who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Please allow us to nourish you, pamper you, and empower you, all offered in a loving environment. We, St. Paul s Bereavement Committee, believe that as we are supportive of people in times of joy, we also want to walk with those in times of sadness, loneliness and mourning, and help them bear their burden of sorrow. Four sessions are planned for Sunday mornings in the Family Room from 10:15 11:30am. The facilitator will be Cathy Labinski, a retired hospice chaplain. On November 19, an overview of the grieving process will be presented. On November 26, we will reflect on the wide gamut of feelings that overwhelm a grieving person. On December 3, we will focus on how to take care of oneself as one moves through the grieving process. On December 10, ideas will be shared on how to get through the holidays which are just around the corner. Light refreshments will be served, so please RSVP to the Parish Office at 262-968-3865 to help us plan appropriately or just come. We want to help you walk through a dark time. Fr. Dan Volkert and the Bereavement Ministry Team FAITH FORMATION Keeping the Faith Be the Change P - Pray R - Read Scripture E - Eucharist - receive the Eucharist regularly P - Participate in parish life A - Ask for Forgiveness; go to Reconciliation R - Reach out to the Least of our brothers and sisters e - Evangelize - share the love of Jesus with those around you! I have a vision for the world. Wanna hear? Well...if not...stop reading. I can see a world where people seek to honor the person to their right and to their left. They recognize in their neighbor another self - another person who is endowed with a worth that does not come from this world. In this world you have come "to discover that you are loved is [at] the center of all existence. And when we are filled with this total and delirious love, little by little, we grow and love in turn. That the gradualness in our journeys is a sign of the infinite tenderness of God" (Chiara Corbella Petrolio). I see a world that is "not overcome by evil but overcomes evil with good" (Romans 12:21). I see a world where the violence we have in our society becomes nonexistent. Maybe I am too idealistic. Maybe I am crazy. I don't care. I believe in a God who uses ordinary, flawed human beings all the time. We need to choose to be the change, HIS change in the world. But it can be done. William Wilberforce ushered in an end to the slave trade (and eventually slavery) in the British Empire - without a war - out of a conviction that we are all created by the same God. And God created us equal. It was a conviction that captivated his heart because of an encounter with the same God I speak about. May we all allow God to use us to be the change He desires in the world.

WHY DO WE DO THAT? - CATHOLIC TRADITIONS EXPLAINED Question: If one's gift or talent is making money, and one uses that money for honorable purposes, is it considered a spiritual gift? What does our faith teach us about wealth and stewardship? Answer: Jesus said it best: to whom much is given, much is expected. All gifts come from God, and our abilities are given to us to be used for the benefit of ourselves and of others and at the service of the Gospel. In an article entitled "The Many Faces of Stewardship," Catherine Doherty wrote about stewardship in the "nitty-gritty everydayness of my life," and about the currency or "money" of spiritual stewardship: love, understanding, and unselfishness. For a gift to have a spiritual benefit, our intention and involvement would be part of the consideration. If I give money to a charity, but do so in order to gain a tax advantage, it could hardly be a virtuous thing on my part. But if I give because I want to help and, in fact, am even willing to get involved, I have committed myself in a deeper, more meaningful way. Regardless of our money-making talents, in the end, true stewardship comes down to how well we practice the virtues of faith, hope, and love within our life and with those in our community and church. Ultimately, the most important element in stewardship is not intangible--it's you!
