READINGS THIS WEEK COLLECT Almighty God, whose people are knit together in one holy Church, the mystical Body of your Son, grant us grace to follow your blessed saints in lives of faith and commitment, and to know the inexpressible joys you have prepared for those who love you; through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS Holy and mighty God, we give you thanks for the triumph of Christ in the lives of all his saints. Receive all we offer you this day, and help us, like them, to run our course with faith, that we may come to your eternal kingdom. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION Lord of hosts, we praise your glory reflected in your saints. May we who share at this table be filled with the joy of your eternal kingdom, where Jesus is Lord, now and for ever. A READING FROM THE WISDOM OF SOLOMON The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment will ever touch them. In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died, and their departure was thought to be a NOVEMBER 1, 2015 6

disaster, and their going from us to be their destruction; but they are at peace. For though in the sight of others they were punished, their hope is full of immortality. Having been disciplined a little, they will receive great good, because God tested them and found them worthy of himself; like gold in the furnace he tried them, and like a sacrificial burnt offering he accepted them. In the time of their visitation they will shine forth, and will run like sparks through the stubble. They will govern nations and rule over peoples, and the Lord will reign over them forever. Those who trust in him will understand truth, and the faithful will abide with him in love, because grace and mercy are upon his holy ones, and he watches over his elect. WISDOM OF SOLOMON 3:1-9 A READING FROM THE BOOK OF REVELATION Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them as their God; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away." And the one who was seated on the throne said, "See, I am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true." Then he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end." REVELATION 21:1-6A THE HOLY GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO JOHN When Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him, "Lord, NOVEMBER 1, 2015 7

if you had been here, my brother would not have died." When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see." Jesus began to weep. So the Jews said, "See how he loved him!" But some of them said, "Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?" Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, "Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days." Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, "Father, I thank you for having heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me." When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go." JOHN 11:32-44 PSALM 24 Chant No. 1 The earth is the Lord s and all / that is in it,* the world and all who / dwell therein. For it is he who founded it up-/on the seas* and made it firm upon the rivers / of the deep. NOVEMBER 1, 2015 8

Who can ascend the hill / of the Lord* and who can stand in his / holy place? Those who have clean hands and / a pure heart,* who have not pledged themselves to falsehood, nor sworn by what / is a fraud. They shall receive a blessing / from the Lord,* and a just reward from the God of / their salvation. Such is the generation of / those who seek him,* of those who seek your face, O / God of Jacob. Lift up your heads, O gates; lift them high, O ever-/lasting doors;* and the King of glory / shall come in. Who is this / King of glory? * The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, might-/y in battle. Lift up your heads, O gates; lift them high, o ever-/lasting doors;* and the King of glory / shall come in. Who is he, this / King of glory? * The Lord of hosts, he is the / King of glory. Introit Text O quam gloriosum est regnum in quo cum Christo gaudent omnes Sancti. Amicti stolis albis, et sequuntur Agnum quocumque ierit. O how glorious is the kingdom, where all the Saints rejoice with Christ! Dressed in white robes, and they follow the Lamb wheresoever he goes. Communion Motet Text Justorum animae in manu Dei sunt, et non tanget illos tormentum mortis. Visi sunt oculis insipientium mori, illi autem sunt in pace. The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and there no torment shall touch them. In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die: but they are in peace. Choral Benediction Text Holy is the true light, and passing wonderful, lending radiance to them that endured in the heat of the conflict: from Christ they inherit a home of unfading splendour, wherein they rejoice with gladness evermore. Alleluia. NOVEMBER 1, 2015 10

NEW! AUTOMATIC OFFERING Enjoy the convenience of the Cathedral Church of All Saints Automatic Offering (formerly known at PAR) and enhance your support of the Cathedral Church of All Saints. Every year, the Cathedral runs an operating deficit. The deficit is of particular concern during the summer period when regular church attendance declines due to vacations and offerings experience a seasonal decline. Our growth has been steady over the past few years but more work remains to be done. 2012 47 contributors (21%) $6,700 monthly 2013 54 contributors (24%) $7,500 monthly 2014 72 contributors (32%) $9,400 monthly Now 70 contributors (31%) $9,200 monthly We have clearly reached a plateau and Council has endorsed a plan that targets 40% participation by December 31st. This means we need 23 new families to enroll over the next 2 months. Whether or not I am there..my church has financial commitments every week that need my offering. My church is important to me, and so is my financial commitment to its work. T hat is why I use the Direct Deposit Offering system to fulfill my commitment." Two-step participation in this program could not be easier: 1.0 Complete the authorization card and attach a void cheque. Your account will be debited on or about the 20 th of each month. 2.0 Place on collection plate, pass to a sides-person or drop off at the Cathedral Office. As always, all are welcome, men and women, but especially on the 12th, as we will be exploring the idea of a Friends of the Cathedral and we need your input. To help our understanding of a Friends of the Cathedral, we welcome to Saints Alive the Diocesan Controller, Mr. Peter Flemming, who will address how the financial structure of a Friends of the Cathedral could look. Save the date (Thurs. Nov. 12) and plan on attending (2 4).
