Save me, O Lord, for the godly man hath disappeared. The Reading from the Epistle of St. Paul to the Galatians. (6:11-18) BRETHREN, see with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh that would compel you to be circumcised and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. For even those who receive circumcision do not themselves keep the Law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may glory in your flesh. But far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. Peace and mercy be upon all, who walk by this rule, upon the Israel of God. Henceforth let no man trouble me; for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen.

THE GOSPEL (For the Fifth Sunday of Luke) The Reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke. (16:19-31) THE LORD SAID, There was a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus, full of sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man s table; moreover, the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried; and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes, and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus in his bosom. And he called out, Father Abraham, have mercy upon me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us. And he said, Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father s house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment. But Abraham said, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, No, father Abraham; but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent. He said to him, If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead. Thought for the Day He who does not know the truth cannot truly have faith; for by nature knowledge precedes faith. What is said in Scripture is said not solely for us to understand, but also for us to act upon. Thank you for your contribution to St. George Church It is by offering our blessings back to God that He will be able to continue His forgiving, healing, empowering, transfiguring, loving ministry through the Church. For God, infinite though He be, has chosen to work through us, through our gifts, to continue His saving work in the world today. Stewardship is our response to God s grace and moves us from grace to gratitude. Just as we love because God first loved us (1 John 4:14), we give because God first gave to us. The questiion of the Psalmist: What shall I give to the Lord in return for all His benefits towards me? (Ps 116:2), is answered in every liturgy when the celebrant calls us to offer ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God. Are you a member? We are truly thankful for you and your family here at St. George Church. You are a vital part of our church community and we stand ready to serve you. Through your valued membership, you allow our Church to continue to enhance the spiritual growth of the Orthodox Christians entrusted to our care. Teen SOYO thanks you for your support as they continue to raise funds for a new church van We wish to acknowledge the fine efforts of our Teen SOYO, who for the past few years, has been raising funds for a new church van. Through raffles and fundraisers, the teens have attained so far a total of $7,500. This is a start for the $40,000-$50,000 needed to purchase a new vehicle. Of considerable note, we are pleased to announce that an anonymous matching donor has stepped forward to partner with the Teen SOYO in this endeavor. The current 18-year-old van is a 1999 Ford. A new van is needed for delivering homeless dinners to the Salvation Army; carpooling to youth and church-related events; camps, retreats, and other mission-based activities in our community. A new and reliable vehicle would be exceedingly helpful. Our Teen SOYO is committed to being a blessing to the community we serve. Watch for their upcoming fundraisers and raffles your support will assist them to achieve their goal of a new church van. Thank you for considering supporting the teens through both your prayer and giving. Celebrate Holy Easter in the Holy Land April 4-14, 2018 with Fr.
