Ministry Highlights Funeral Ministry The Funeral Ministers Ministry assists a family in helping to bury a loved one. We offer help in many different ways, e.g. bread makers, greeters/ushers, readers, acolytes, communion ministers, or cantors. Funerals can be during the day or night, on a weekday or the weekend. When the family tells us how the parish can help, we contact the ministers involved in the ministry to see who is available for the particular day and time. If you would like to become involved in this ministry, please contact Georgi at the Parish Office at 942-8300. Having a familiar face from your parish to help bury your loved one can be a great comfort. Christmas Ministry St Anne Christmas Ministry will begin the weekend of November 12th/13th Our Christmas giving tree will be filled with names of many children and adults and their Christmas wishes. A good number of the tags will have a due date of November 27th, so we wanted you to have as much time as possible to shop. We will be able, however to accept gift up through December 9th, and they may be brought to the church office during the week days. This year we are in need of large gift bags, large gift boxes and tissue paper. Sign-up sheets for our many activities will be available starting the following weekend, November 19/20th. Christmas Ministry volunteers will be available before and after all masses to assist you. Thank you very much, we look forward to once again providing a joyous holiday season to our neighbors in need! If you would be interested in "adopting " an entire family this Christmas season, please contact Lynne Sutphin, Christmas Ministry coordinator, at 764-1181. In preparation of November 13 The 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time We are presenting the readings and reflection questions for the following week so that we can prepare in advance. Gospel Mt 25:14-30 Jesus told his disciples this parable: "A man going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them. To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one--to each according to his ability. Then he went away. Immediately the one who received five talents went and traded with them, and made another five. Likewise, the one who received two made another two. But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and buried his master's money. After a long time the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them. The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the additional five. He said, 'Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.' His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.' Then the one who had received two talents also came forward and said, 'Master, you gave me two talents. See, I have made two more.' His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.' Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said, 'Master, I knew you were a demanding person, harvesting where you did not plant and gathering where you did not scatter; so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground. Here it is back.' His master said to him in reply, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant and gather where I did not scatter? Should you not then have put my money in the bank so that I could have got it back with interest on my return? Now then! Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten. For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'" Theme: Be faithful Adults: What sacrifice am I willing to make to serve the poor and needy? Children: How can I use my talents to help people in need? Urban Outreach Volunteers Needed St. Anne is an active participant for a community outreach program, the Urban Outreach Center (UOC), which is located in the basement of Grace Lutheran Church. Our parishioners and our ministries provide support to UOC in various ways, such as our Christmas Ministry donations, Summer Camp lunches, attendance and silent auction items for the Annual Donor Dinner, etc. We also provide a parishioner who serves on the UOC Board. One of the external sources of income for UOC is the Bradley Center. UOC provides the volunteer staffing for one of the refreshment booths during events at the Bradley Center and then shares in the profits from the refreshments sold at the booth. On December 2, St. Anne will be responsible for providing 14 volunteers to work the booth at the Bradley Center. I would like to ask for your help as a volunteer to join me on December 2. We will leave the St. Anne parking lot around 4 pm (more details to follow once volunteers are identified) and return around 11 pm. We can establish a small car pool caravan. Everyone 18 years and beyond is invited to serve with us. Not only will you serve a great cause, but also you will get to spend several hours with fellow parishioners. It is a fun event and you may get to see some of the action (it is an Admirals game). If you are interested, please call Ed Hauser at 262-577-3345, or email me at ed@insights4success.com. Knowing the spirit of St. Anne, I thank you for making our outing successful.
