Maccabi NSW Lawn Bowls Guild Inc PRESIDENT S REPORT 2012. We have completed a very successful year in my first year as President. I would like to thank all the Committee who have worked together whenever called upon. A special thanks go to Harry Stein and Shmuel Abrahams for their guidance and encouragement throughout my settling into the Presidency. It is regrettable that Peter Goldman resigned during the year as he could not work with our Committee. I thank him for his efforts and hope he will remain a member of the Guild. BOWLS. The following events were organized and well attended by our members: Maccabi Open Triples The Bays Day Diamond Bay, Lindfield Day Open Pairs Invitation Triples N.S.W. Jewish Singles. My thanks go to Sidney Glick, Bernie Garden and Harry Stein,Dafna Orbach and John Wineberg for their organizing these events. They did a great job and I hope that some more of our Committee will get more involved this year in assisting these great workers. There have been a number of recommendations from this years committee which we will try to implement. 1. The invitation Triples should be at a time when we have 3 greens so that we can invite more teams who are on a waiting list. 2. The N.S.W. Jewish singles was a very successful event and this year we should organize a Womens event at the same time. 3. The Bays day should be replaced by a Maccabi verses the rest or a family day. 4. We are looking into a Bowls trip to Israel for all bowlers who would like to participate. This follows a successful trip organized by Stuart Lustigman (who attended the last MAIGS representing Great Britain). He took 58 bowlers to Israel for one week which included full board and bowls at 5 clubs in Israel and a tour. The cost in English pounds was 590 pounds plus air fares. Competitors had a choice of traveling on to other countries or staying in Israel after the bowls event. I must thank Annette Wineberg, Dotty Stein, Susan Platus, Diane Moses, Alma Goldman, Carole Brickman, Lorraine Becker and Cathy Shapiro for their assistance throughout the year at our Bowls Days attending to our catering requirements. SPONSORS. Daniel Baran Place Estate Agents. Michael Glick Michael Glick Footwear They were our sponsors for 2011. Their sponsorships helped fund new shirts and bowls tournaments which was a great help in running our club. Thanks to Daniel and Michael. SOCIAL EVENTS. We held four events during the year and they were all well attended. Our members enjoyed the social interaction away from the bowling greens. 1. Harbour Cruise Bernie Garden and Harry Stein Organisers 2. Film Night Sam Ginges, Harry Stein, Sol. Kaganoff and Shmuel Abrahams Organisers 3. Bus Trip Bernie Garden Organiser 4. Bridge Night Harry Stein and Bernie Garden organiser. My only regret was that we had to cancel the Sportsmans Dinner because of lack of support for this function. I thank Peter Goldman for his efforts in obtaining guest speaker, Australian international bowler, Steve Glasson. It is hoped that this function may take place in the future.

RAFFLE PRIZES. Raffle prizes were donation throughout the year by Harry Stein, Sol Caganoff, Sam Ginges, John Wineberg, Louis Platus, Sid Glick, Phillip Joel, Rod Silber and Barrie Brickman. The funds raised helped to subsidise our events. I would also like to thank Wayne and Alan Rosenberg who took care of any printing which we required. MACCABI N.S.W. WEBSITE. The website was launched during 2011 and with the help of Shmuel Abrahams and David Wiener we have information on a weekly basis from the newsletter. All members should logon for updates for Maccabi N.S.W. Bowls. AUSTRALIAN JEWISH NEWS. We have had little joy from the editor of the Jewish News. I hope to be able to improve our relationship with Josh Levi in the coming year so that we receive our share of publicity for our club. Finally, I would like to thank our treasurer Terrence Joffe and our secretary Shmuel Abrahams for the efficient manner in which they manage the Club s affairs. My thanks to the whole of the Committee for their attendance at meetings and events that have been organized throughout the past year. The support of all the members and their partners at our events has been very encouraging and we hope that this support will continue into this new year. Thanks and regards Louis Platus President
