17 2 \J PLEASE PASS ON. DEC, 19 4 8, E.H.BAZELEY, Houdenbeck Farm, P.O.B o x 74, CERES, Cape, SOUTH AFRICA. : "EVERYTHING COMES OUT OF THE PEOPLE, EVERYDAY "^NOVEMBER : PEOPLE, THE PEOPLE AS YOU FIND THEM, JUST PEOPLE" % 1948 ORGANISED AGRICULTURE. ===================== ALL FARMERS may well take off their hats to.. Mr. G. J. Russouw, President of the South iiirican Agricultural Union, for his bold and energetic leadership of organised farming over the past few years. He has brought Agriculture- u : ^ s practical side - to its rightful place, and it is now up to the whole farming community of the Union to back him up. The most patriotic service that^each farmer can render to the general welfare, personally and collectively, is to devote their highest efforts to intelligent practical farming. We have been told that SOIL CONSERVATION is largely organised as to policy, but needs and awaits the rank and file staff to put into practice the programme visualised. It is hard to see why there should be this delay, this strange hesitancy to get this most vital national work into action, for it is much more work for the protection and welfare of all people in our country, than any war organisation. It is difficult indeed to reconcile the ability of a nation so competent in organisation for war - occupation that is entirely destructive - with the same nation and people whose leaders fail_them absolutely in the organisation for peace. Deplorable too is the inability of those who have been leaders in war to beat their swords into ploughshares, and to organise all out for the soil, its care, its conservation, and its precious productive qualities on a basis of abundance for the sustenance and welfare of all the people. Such has-been the almost complete failure of the world's national and international leaders, who must consequently be condemned as insincere for their peoples' welfare. Within the last three years the greatest opportunity has been lost by our leaders - as by the leaders of other nations - to catch the spirit of devotion and energy tuned up for war conditions and divert the national energy and concentration of effort to the organisation of the NEW WORLD then awaiting to be explored - SQt.explo ited, the world of greater human enterprise and finer conception. But mankind failed badly as the leaders failed their people, to seize the heaven-sent opportunity for the better l i f e. Let us now then, recognising our failure, get into action while there is yet time I What are we going to do about it N O W? That is what matters, readers, of RESULTS. Here is our contribution by the way of suggested action. Let there be opened in a number of centres recruitment for the South African Land Service Corps, enlistment to be on a contract for one or more years. Such a corps would not call for regimentationfor discipline, yes, as with any contract. It would need that spirit of high cameraderie that in time of war has enabled the SPRINGBOKS to accomplish the impossible for the good of a ll. The Corps slogan should be that imperishable' motto of the Three Musketeers?- "ONE FOR ALL, AND ALL FOR ONE".

ORGANISED AGRICULTURE (Contd.):-...,. Pu to the Youth of the country in the right manner, f have far greater appeal than the time-wasting occupation So t h t m o } ng, on a Parade ground, and the becoming familiar with every devil's device for the destruction of humanity.,... have the men for the job, than whom none could be -ound better to put this great national constructive effort before the country. We would name specially the qualifications of such sincere men as tor. J.^ D. de Wet, the inspired leader and organiser of the oung farmers agricultural clubs, and that ardent soil conservationist, Dr. C.J.J. van Rensburg. There are no doubt others, to say nothing: of ex-oprmgboks. Might there not be a "foreign legion" too? Such a company could include land workers from Britain, Germany, Austria, or Italy, who would eventually become "professional" farm workers and settlers on the land. The Editor has tested the willingness of Austrians and Italians through their representatives here, to come to South Africa as farm workers, and finds eager response; the only present, snag seems to be that a sum of some 70 or more is required to be paid by the introducer as passage money for such farm workers. C H A O S. ========== ^ Universal competition for gain, perpetuated despite the uneven distribution of raw materials throughout the world, tends to make war inevitable. Established system, primarily careerist, is based on control by Minority, It elevates selfishness above unselfishness, seeming not so much to u p lift, unite and serve, as to dictate, divide and ru le. Money, fame and power are almost universally coveted. They distort human nature. They disrupt human association and destroy human lo ve. Control over the issue of credit is monopolised by financial institutions, by whom eternal usury is exacted on all moneys created. Debt-Finance, now soaring towards the infinite, is the orthodox economists' route for mankind to perdition. The shameless pretence that such wicked and inhuman processes are unavoidable has caused civilisation to be led blindfold through two world wars to the very brink of extinction. To-day all nations, demented or obsessed, fearfully hoist yet again the belligerent flag of "defence against aggression." Governments seem unable to stop the rot, for they are but the slaves of System and precedent. Established system founded on gain but not on general welfare, designed for control not for happiness, has forged its own chains and sealed its own doom. Those in high places cannot enslave the world, for they remain constricted in the ever-tightening coils of self-interest. If by blaming leaders, nations, parties, classes, sects or creeds, we but foment disagreement, then by expecting all or any of them to put wrong things right we but invite disappointment. The course is clear. Blame must fall on the Established system, on Control by the Minority. Established system must be reorganised and perspective restored to the Control by Minority. The General Public must be organised for action. The People must act. From; - Bert Taylor* Founder of the General Welfare Movement, whose address iss Rigshaw Bridge, Adlington, Chorley, Lancashire, Eng. The quotation in the heading is ascribed to Whitman by Mr. J.B.Priestleys "Everything comes out of the people, everyday people - the people as you find them and leave them, - people, people, just people". Editor' s Note; Will readers of RESULTS who support the principles of this Bulletin and of the NEW EVANGELISM note that the cost of issuing RESULTS is a subscription of a minimum of 10/- per annum. OUR LEGISLATORS. ================ in a recent article in "TREK by Dr. Osborn, M.P., he declares that "the target is full employment". We thought this had long ago been recognised as an entirely futile and out of date aim. Does the Labour Party of our South African Assembly then ignore the universally accepted fact that on every side in industry the machine is ousting an increasing percentage of manual labour and labourers? If the real welfare of the people is the target, then surely so futile a b u l l's eye should be rubbed out? We know Dr, Osborn to be a man of perception and sincerity. How then are we to account for such a declaration? In the same journal there have also been recently a series of articles on Finance by Mr. J.R. Sullivan, M.P., the tireless champion of the Social Security movement. Another whose sincerity and integrity we value, yet is he not spending his time in futile effort for the welfare of the people when he supports the most inveterate antagonist of Social Security - Orthodox Finance, which he seems to accept as the pattern of popular u t il it y. Modern Finance rules the world - and dominates our leaders everywhere. Under that rule Christian civilisation - or what is left of it - w ill go down into the p it. With it w ill go large portions of existing humanity that refuses to think, that apihetically accepts the evil systems of our time, systems that are on every hand challenged by the results they produce. Is it not high time that the people in general, and that Everyman and his wife, decided to sift in their own minds the reality from the rubbish? May we not expect, and can we not have more realism coupled with reasoned solutions to the threatened moral breakdown of our civilisation? May we not expect reasoned solutions, or at least suggestions based on realism, from our representatives in parliament, in the place of platitudes based on "orthodox systems" which constantly fa il to provide any contribution to the welfare of the people? WASTED LAND. ============ We take the following facts from the Propaganda Supplement of the Social Credit Party Bulletin in London. The following statement seems to reflect what we have said above in reference to the lack of realism in the words and actions of our legislators to-day. In 1942 one thousand people had to leave Stanford area in Norfolk, where 27?000 acres of land were taken over by the War Office for a battle training area. Three villages, five churches, ceased to exist. A pledge was given by the Government that those displaced should be allowed to return "home" (?) after the war. In 1948 it is decided to retain the Stanford area for military purposes. Of those 27,000 acres, 20,000 could be used for food production. The farmers of Stanford, and the evacuated folk of the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset (7,000 acres used as a tank gunnery range) are refugees in their own country. Reason for all this and more is that the Labour Government (of Great Britain) is under the thumb of High Finance. It cannot imagine a debt-free Britain able to feed herself, for it is all tangled up in the bank-spiders' web of Bretton Woods, Dumbarton Oaks, International Banking, Marshall Aid, U.N.O., etc. The Labour Government of Great Britain of England decrees that EXPORTS MUST GO UP, since we must export to get the food we need (so they say), so the good earth of England is neglected, and farmers and people of England driven forth from their villages as displaced persons. TO SUCH MAD EXTREMITY HAS GOVERNMENT ARRIVED (Our comment). REAL HEALTH CAN ROT. MEN M Y STARVE. BUT WE MUST NOT CHANGE THE RULES OF THE MONEY GAME I

MANY MOVEMENTS. ============== There is at least a stirring among the peoples everywhere, if one may judge from the many movements that are arising and have arisen all over, at lea st, the English-speaking world. In our last RESULTS we referred to the General Welfare Movement, founded in England by a Mr. Bert Taylor, of Adlington, Chorley, Lancs., which aims to induce the co-ordination of the many sincere efforts for the better l if e and general human welfare. Not least worthy of all these movements, in England at least, is that of the Peoples Common Law Parliament. Their address is 5 Endsleigh Place, London, W.C.I., England. While any reader of RESULTS can write for literature, we have in the Loan Library such of their literature as will give to any sincere reader a glow in the heart for the detailed and carefully considered conception of this movement of the Peoples Common Law Parliament. The Founder of the Movement has written much that conveys what is in the minds of so many to-day. The structure of the Peoples Common Law Parliament and the Constitution which it proposes is set forth in A Parliament of Man". A DIGEST OF =========== FOOD FOR THOUGHT ================= presented in the writings of to-day, taken from published volumes and literature of all kinds - this is what RESULTS could give to thousands of fair-thinking folks who need and desire guidance as to what to read. Such a DIGEST would-be possible, given the circulation, the encouragement, and the funds to initiate a printed monthly issue of RESULTS. Once issued we have no fear of its reception and established success, for it would be unique. It would not ape the advertisement sheets which come from our printing presses to-day in such lavish profusion, floating on the tide of popularity so long as money is plen tiful and advertisements attract. RESULTS would have to survive on a limited category of advertisement, such as pertained to the subject matter of health and soil, and the development of the producer-consumer market, on health practitioners, and on selected holiday resorts. That is what we have in mind. What we need is a nucleus of thinking and practising evangelists of the better life through better health from better and fertile soil - a centre that will bring together such folk from far and wide should appeal. LOAN LIBRARY. 1/Ve are enclosing a Loan Library L is t. ============= Since this List was printed there have been a large number of books and pamphlets added, which now amount to 2^0 or more. IT SEEMED TO ME MAGNIFICENT. We have come across copies of this very ============================ human record by Margaret Mackenzie. We make no apology to old readers for serving up what they have already seen, as this is so admirable, and so highly in accord with our own views. If readers will pass it on, it may serve to remind some of the slack thinkers of to-day, so that they may be shamed into using their minds and voices more intelligently. A NEW ANGLE CAMP. Some while back we were anxious to start these -=============== Camps, more especially for Youth, at which subjects might be discussed to a point of action, subjects such as we treat of in RESULTS. -, ' i n We now say why not a NEW ANGLE CAMP at Houdenbeck? Say somewhere around the Christmas holidays. For adults and Youth. The project of the Land Service Corps might be worked out. Let readers respond and send suggestions - without delay. The farm offers pleasant scenic surroundings among mountains, which can be climbed. There is an expanse of water for bathing and fish in g Ṁay we hear from YOU? We are holding the farm as a nature reserve, so NO shooting is allowed, and fishing (black bass) is only open to our friends.
