Few kms away from the busy tourist resort of Manali, you will stay in the beautiful village of Goshal (Alt. 2050 m) in the Kullu valley, near the Beas river and surrounded with snowcapped Himalayan mountains. A day to chill out and experience Goshal 3-day festival (god statues parade, religious ceremonies, shaman transe, Kullu dance and music, food ). Experience the hospitality of the local people (chaï, rice wine, lunch and dinner in home village). Day 5 20/09 Manali / Goshal village (Himachal Pradesh) Goshal Village Gautam Shala Cottage Visit Manali, the shopping market, the Tibetan monastery, the triple-tiered wooden temple of Hadimba (built 1553) Last day of festival (celebrated by Goshal villagers) Day 6 21/09 Manali Kaza (10-12 hours jeep drive) Drive up to Rohtang pass (4700m), through spectacular panoramic Himalayan peaks, Kunzum pass (4551m) to Kaza (3640m) in the Spiti valley, the starting point to visit fabulous Buddhist monasteries & remote villages. Day 7 22/09 Kaza (Spiti Valley) Jeep Ki gompa (12 kms northwest of Kaza) with Tibetan architecture, largest monastery in the Spiti valley. Kibber : known as the highest settlement in the world (4205m) Day 8 23/09 Tabo Jeep Tabo Monastery Dhankar gompa (3890m and 32 kms from Kaza) with brilliant life of the Buddha murals. Tabo gompa (43 kms east of Kaza) with exquisite Buddhist art. Day 9 24/09 Tabo to Guling Jeep Drive from Tabo back in the direction of Kaza, cross the river by the Atlergo bridge to Guling (3520m) the start of the Pin Valley. There is a campsite 2 kms before the village. There are 2 shops in Guling. Possibility to visit the monastery of Kungri, the main center of the Nyingmapa sect in Spiti. 7 days trek Bhawa pass: Moderate but high altitude trek. One pass at 4890 m. Discover this remote area of Himachal Pradesh, starting from Guling, passing through the stark moonscapes of the Pin Valley, crossing one pass of 4890m, into the meadows, pastures and forests of Kinnaur and ending in Kafnu close to the Sutlej river. Day 10 25/09 Guling (3520m) to Kahr (3810m) Trek Day 1 (3 Short day trek following the road through Guling village, across a bridge and up the ridge, at the top of which is the Pin valley. Day 11 26/09 Khar to Mudh (3850m) Trek Day 2 (5 The path follows along the flat and open Pin valley. You pass through Tiling village at the confluence of the Kuokli Gad and the Pin river. Short steep climb through scree, followed by a gradual climb up the hill side and along vast meadows. There are several streams to cross during the day. Day 12 27/09 Mudh Trek Day 3 Rest day Rest day to help you acclimatize before 2 long day walk. You can explore Mudh village with its white washed houses, its Mani (prayer) walls, chortens and small gompa. The village gompa is set impressively on a cliff between 2 streams. Day 13 28/09 Mud to Bara Bolander base camp (3960m) Trek Day 4 (7 Start early in order to cross the river before mid-day when the water level rises too high to cross safely. The day start with a gradual but constant climb, followed a steep ascent on scree rubble. After crossing the stream, the campsite is just 10 minutes away. If the water is too high, you will have to camp here for the night and attempt to cross earlier the next morning. Day 14 29/09 Base camp Bhawa Pass (4890m) Pulstring (4300m) Trek Day 5 (8 The trail is rugged most of the day, walking over moraine and scree, boulder fields. With the crossing of one pass at 4890m it requires an early start. You will start with a steep climb above the camp, and then the path follows the stream that flows from the glacier below the pass (almost 900m). The pass is marked by prayer flags. The steep descent will take you 1 ½ hour through a beautiful valley before you reach the 4 of 6

Day 15 30/09 Pulstring to Mulling (3360m) Trek Day 6 (3-5 A day of descent (1000m) during which you will cross several glacial streams and will walk through meadow filled valleys. There is a good campsite next to the river. Day 16 01/10 Mulling to Kafnu (3000m) Trek Day 7 (4 + Jeep Walk along the base of the valley, then head down hill to the village of Kafnu. Kafnu to Sarahan by jeep. Day 17 02/10 Day 18 03/10 Sarahan - Shimla Jeep Meals: B/L Shimla Meals: B Bhimakali Temple Shimla (2159m alt.): Day free to visit Himachal s capital and former British summer capital and now a major Indian holidays resort with British colonial architecture and a vibrant bazaar.
