KANI KANI PELE The Monthly Newsletter of Kailua United Methodist Church Volume XXI No. 7 July 2018 1110 Kailua Road, Kailua, HI 96734 Making Disciples of Christ from All Generations It s with great joy and excitement that I write to you, Kailua United Methodist Church, for the first me. Ministry, as with life, is full of twists and turns and unexpected opportunies. Like many people who find themselves here on beauful Oahu, I never would have imagined that God would call my family and me to this place. Over the past two years of living in Niu Valley, we have grown to appreciate so much about Hawaii. Our daughter Stella was born at Queens Hospital, our boys Hudson and Grayson spend countless hours playing outside, and even our dog Emma finds herself jumping in wave a-er wave. In Kailua, we hope that our roots will grow deeper and our knowledge and love for the people and the island will grow. church. All of this happens in and through relaonship. We share in ministry together, we will support one another and we will learn about the love of God that goes beyond us and before us together, in relaonship. I am excited to get to know you. Send me an email at PastorBrian@kailuaumc.org or call me at the church office. Let me know when it is good for you to get together and talk-story. I trust that over the coming months we can get to know one another and begin to share in our journey of following Christ. In Peace, Pastor Brian Belting I believe that life change happens within the context of a meaningful relaonship with God, with others, and with the world. This statement is fundamental to my theology, pracce of ministry, and life. Chrisan faith is relaonal; an invitaon and journey of being with. The Holy Trinity is the foundaon a God who is known only as a God in relaonship: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The book of Genesis says we were made in God s image only a-er we were in relaonship with another. My calling and role as your pastor is to serve by proclaiming God s word, ordering our lives, both administravely and through our faith pracces, by administering the sacraments of Holy Communion and Bapsm; and through service to both the community of Kailua UMC and the community beyond the walls of the
