Report on the one day International conference on Challenges in Exploring Indian Sciences During Antiquity Organized on 18 th December, 2011, At Sankaramatt Hall, Dwarakanagar. Visakhapatnam Dr.BL Narasayya, former Dy.Director General, Geological Survey of India started the conference at 10.00 AM by inviting the guests on to the dias, followed by Vedapatanam by Vedic scholars. The Chief Guest of the session was Prof. G,subrahmanyam,Vice Chancellor, GITAM University, Vizag, The Guest of Honour was Dr.D.V.N. Sharma, an eminent scientist formerly with NASA USA and the Keynote addresses Prof.Kosla Vepa, Chairman, Indic Studies Foundation, California, USA. Prof.K.V Krishna Murthy, Chairman, I-SERVE, presided over the session and the dignitaries opened the session by lighting the lamp. Prof. N. Someswara rao Analytical Chemistry Department, Andhra University, briefed about the conference. In his presidential remarks, Prof.K.V.Krishna Murthy said there are a number of challenges that are to be talked about. One is that the ancient scientific manuscripts are not readily available and there is no encouragement for research in the form of financial assistance and co operation. The other issue is that the researchers are given the wrong pictures, and therefore the research findings are getting delayed. It is necessary that the involvement of the International scientists and departments work together, for up gradation of the

ancient scientific knowledge and that is why I-SERVE invited Prof. Kosla Vepa s collaboration for this International conference. Even though many scriptures were lost our scholars and scientists can decode the marvels with the available manuscripts and with advanced modern research. Thus India can bring the Nature friendly technologies for the benefit of the whole world. Prof. Murty proceeded further and briefed the efforts of I-SERVE in bringing out these sciences and stressed the need of scientific, technical, and financial supports from various agenciences in Government, public, and private organizations, and the need of young student s and scholar s involvement in this great task Dr.D.V.N Sarma in his scholarly speech, briefed about the sciences that were described in the Vedic literature, such as Chemistry, Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Biology, Jyotishya, Astronomy, Geology, Ayurveda, Mathematics etc., and said that these sciences are being used in modern civilization in the western way, which is causing concern due to its negative effects. He further said that the present Indian scientific talent is not fully geared to face the situation and to concentrate its energies in using the ancient manuscripts to evolve and implement alternative ecofriendly techniques for the benefit of the society at large. Shri Mahesh Kumar, incharge of I-SERVE s Visakhapatnam chapter appraised about the activities of I SERVE and the need for opening the I-SERVE chapter at Visakhapatnam, the city of intellectuals city.

Prof. G.Subrahmanyam, Vice Chancellor, GITAM, Visakhapatnam chapter of I-SERVE and unveiled the plaque of also released the book on Vedic Administration which is published by I-SERVE. In his address Prof. G.Subrahmanyam briefed about I-SERVE commitments and referred to the conference held at GITAM university where GITAM had come forward with an MoU with I-SERVE for collaborative research programmes in Ancient scientific knowledge, He also said Indian ancient sciences are the properties of this country and are to be developed by this country. He further declared that India will be on the top in sciences in coming decades and world, including USA, is looking at India for this purpose. He said that It is necessary to establish research centers in Universities for R&D in ancient sciences. The Indian Science congress, that is being held in the country every year during the first week of January, must have a scientific and technical session to discuss the ancient scientific knowledge, Even though our valuable manuscripts and scriptures were stolen by the western community during their rule, India still possess enough number of manuscripts and scriptures, he said. He said that Indian our scientific personnel are providing extraordinary services abroad, in the fields of science, technology and medicine. He

urged that the Vedic scientific technologies be made available to the general global public. After the Chief guest s inspiring talk Prof.Kosla vepa, I.S.F and Prof.K.V.Krishna Murthy. I-SERVE exchanged the MoU documents between both the institutions for collaborative research and academic works. This is followed by Keynote Address of Prof. Vepa, on the Importance of History and the Chronology. He said that there is no use if we keep the Vedic science and techniques aloof and we have to give this knowledge to the society, for its benefit. He emphasized that we have to make necessary road maps for this purpose. He provided a lot of information on the real History of ancient Indian events and his struggle in collecting such information from various countries. He also appraised about his book titled- The origin of Astronomy -the Calendar and Time in which he proved the exact dates of various ancient Indian scientists as against the ill motivated euro centric declarations of the Western historians. After the inaugural session the technical sessions were started. The first session was chaired by Shri K.V.R.S. Murthy, former Director grade scientist IICT (CSIR), Hyderabad and presently Director Research wing, I-SERVE. Prof.KV Krishna Murthy presented an Invited lecture on Challenges in understanding Ancient Indian scientific Techniques and Amshubhodini. Amsubodhini is an ancient scientific work written by sage Bharadwaja. It deals with solar energy. But only first chapter of the book is available today. This chapter dealt, among other things, with a wonderful theory of The origin of the Universe, in which several scientific steps, involving numerous interactions of energies like the Vaata Skanda Shakti, Kurma Shakti, Vidyut Jala Shakti etc. were described in an elaborate way. Prof. Murty presented the contents of this portion of the book in a beautiful way, which attracted appreciations from the scientist present in the hall. After the lunch the second Technical Session was chaired by Prof. Visweswaram, Former Professor, Dept of Pharmacy, Andhra University, Vizag, Prof.N.Someswara Rao, the Emeritus Scientist UGC, Andhra University, Dept. of Analytical Chemistry, delivered a lecture on his research studies on Homa and its Therapeutical

Applications. Prof. Rao presented his work in relation to the modern scientific techniques in which several compositions were carefully evaluated with the aid of special scientific gadgets, instruments and equipments developed in his laboratory. He also showed the gas chromatographs and computers used for this purpose and mentioned that his Ph.D students are working on the project. He explained that his intention is to pursue the excellent scientific knowledge embedded in HOMA for the benefit of human healthcare. The second lecture was delivered by Dr.B.L.Narasayya, the former Dy.Director General, Geological Survey of India, S.R Region, Chennai, on The Role of ancient Techniques and Modern Planetary Software in prediction of Earth Quakes. Dr. Narasayya elaborated on how the ancient knowledge models can be co related to the modern technical and scientific theories and brought out a model for predictions of Earth Quakes, using planetary software methodologies and mentioned that a group of scientists and astrologers are working on this project, under the joint project of Gayatri Vidyaparishad, Visakapatnam & I-SERVE, Hyderabad. The Third lecture in the session was delivered by Dr S.Sivarambabu, Director, California Chapter, of I-SERVE.
