Young at Heart Young at Hearts: All seniors and those young at heart are invited to join us for lunch in the Epps Bridge Fellowship Hall following the noon Mass on November 4. Coat Drive The Knights of Columbus will conduct our annual Coats for Kids drive November 5th-6th and 12th-13th. We will be collecting gently used coats for kids and adults as well as monetary donations after all masses. $18.33 will buy a coat for a child who would otherwise go cold this winter. Last year we were able to serve the needs of The Oasis at St. Raphael, NE GA food bank, and ACT Oconee food bank. With your generous support we will be able to help them again. Parish News 40 Days for Life The Fall Campaign of 40 Days for Life lasts until Nov 6 th. Since 2004, these National and International 40 Days for Life campaigns have helped spare the lives of more than 11,700 babies from abortion. More than 100 abortion workers have left the abortion industry for good and four abortion facilities have closed just in Georgia! Please pray and fast asking God's help and blessing for each of the 40 Days for Life campaigns. You re invited to join our Respect Life Ministry as we pray at the Lawrenceville Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. Contact the parish office for details. SJS Basketball The SJS basketball season is starting soon and wants YOU! If your middle school son or daughter is interested in playing on an SJS team, please contact Chris Moore at chris.moore@sjsathens.org for details. The SJS Athletic Dept. encourages all middle school aged parishioners interested to come out and give it a try. GO, KNIGHTS! The SJS Athletic Department is also looking for a few good coaches to work with a 3rd/4th grade boys basketball team and a 5th/6th grade boys basketball team. All parties interested will need to do the proper paperwork and attend Virtus training. This is a volunteer position. While we have made efforts to reduce our administrative fees, salaries and benefits, you will note that the Archdiocesan assessments for the parish and school have also risen in cost, based on the recently published review by our Finance Council, as well as RE, as we have increased our student numbers this year. Active Parishioner Status The question of parishioner status is important. There are many wonderful privileges in Church membership: In addition to enjoying friendships and belonging to a community, members may receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation and Marriage; become certified as sponsors for Sacramental celebrations, like Godparents; be educated in the Catholic Faith through Religious Education programs; and enable positive status be given for those applying to Catholic schools. The Archdiocese of Atlanta defines active parishioners as those registered and worshipping members who contribute of their time, talent and financial resources to support the Parish by the following: become a member by officially registering in the parish actively participate in Mass each week, using their envelope to record attendance supports their Parish financially through tithing (5% to parish, 1% to Archdiocesan Appeal shares their talent within the church community through volunteering in one of our ministries So you see, by registering, using your envelopes and sharing your time and talent with St. Joseph s, you keep our Parish vibrant and growing. And we in turn, can fulfill our mission to you, by welcoming your children into the faith through baptism, teaching them through our religious education and participation in the sacraments, support your family in times of illness and death, through our Blessing Rites and burials. We now have collection boxes in the narthex of both St. Joseph Church locations. Each Box Top and Label can be found on many products we all use every day. Please tear them off and place them in the boss provided. Last year we received approximately $750 for our school. Each label sent in is worth 10 cents, so they add up quickly. Thanks for your help!
