SATURDAY ADVANCE COURSE ( ) Transforming Evangelism SATURDAY ADVANCE COURSE ( ) Rediscovering Our Spiritual Gifts Rome-Carrollton Missions Brothers and Sisters in Christ, When the disciples recognized that it was late in the day and that the crowds were hungry, they urged Jesus to send the crowds away. Jesus responded by instructing the disciples to give them something to eat. A quick inventory by the disciples turned up a report that they didn t have much of anything to offer. However, when the 7 bits of food were placed in the hands of the Lord, a miracle transpired (Luke 9:10-17). We still face the daunting challenge of giving them something to eat. Many in our world, in our community; our crowds are hungry. Many of our congregations are offering to God their loaves and fishes through the support of food pantries at their church or in their community. With the support of the Superintendency Committee and the Leaders of the sub-districts, I propose that during this coming season of Lent (March 5- April 19) every church in the district conduct a food drive to support the local church food pantry or local community food pantry. I ask that each church weigh the food they collect during Lent and report to the district office the number of pounds of food collected and the pantry it was delivered to. If you want to include a picture of the food collected that would be great. We will report back to you the total amount of food raised across the district and the number of pantries that benefited by our collaborative efforts. This is something we can all do. Let s see what God can and will do with our fishes & loaves! David S. Naglee
