PAGE 2 The Pastor s Letter Pastor Greg Magruder Celebrating 50 Days of Jubilee! Dear Church Family, What a wonderful 50 th Anniversary Celebration we had on April 26! We had great attendance, great food and even greater fellowship. It was truly a homecoming to remember. We were blessed with many former members attending the reception and the services. What a joy to renew acquaintances and to reflect on God s goodness over the years. We look forward to another 50 years of ministry in the days ahead. We are right in the middle of 50 Days of Jubilee! The Easter to Pentecost celebration is a time for remembrance, reflection and renewal. We have had time to remember our past and now we are shifting gears to take time to reflect on our relationship with the Lord and be renewed by his Spirit as we move into the future. We are weekly learning about Jubilee, the mission of Jesus and the person of the Holy Spirit in our various classes and studies. I hope you are actively involved in each of these studies. But we have two other major events that take place in May besides graduation recognition and Mother s Day. The Deacons are leading a two week Prayer Visitation Emphasis from May 11-22. Your deacon will contact you about a time he or she can meet with you and your family to pray. Everyone needs prayer. You have needs and concerns that need to be prayed for. The deacons and their helpers will be praying with you about these concerns. They will not stay long but they will take time to listen and pray. They will give you a prayer card and an invitation to our upcoming weekend revival. We want God to bless his church and your family. We want God to revive us by his Spirit. The Deacon Prayer Visitation will allow us to pray with over 130 individuals. Will you open your doors for the deacons to pray with you? Pentecost weekend is May 29-31. Pentecost was the Jewish festival celebrating the first of the harvest. It took fifty days after the Passover and commemorated the giving of the Law to Moses. In the New Testament, Pentecost was the day the Holy Spirit came upon the believers and established the church. The Holy Spirit filled the believers and they boldly preached the Good News that Jesus was the Messiah and Risen Lord. We will celebrate Pentecost weekend with a three day revival. Evangelist Bob Kendig will be the preacher for our revival. Bob lives in Gatlinburg, TN and works for the world as the Coordinator of Counseling and Follow-Up for the Graham Association crusades. He is currently leading a crusade in India. He and his wife Claudette will be with us for the weekend revival. Bryan Popin will be our music evangelist for the revival. He is a concert pianist, worship leader, singer, and songwriter / producer. He started playing the piano at age 5 and gave his first concert on the piano at age 7. Bryan accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at age 10 and after a life-changing prayer by Dino, Bryan realized and accepted the calling on his life at age 11. Bryan is a Bible school graduate and a licensed minister. He is married to Susan and has 1 daughter and a son on the way. Bryan toured the United States with Dottie Rambo and Dony & Reba Rambo- McGuire and has ministered with Gospel artists such as Andrae Crouch and Michael W. Smith. He has written songs for Nsync, Richard Marx and Chaka Khan. Bryan sponsors World Vision and is also working on the completion of his 9th CD. You can hear Bryan s music at www.bryanpopin.com. We are excited that Bryan is taking time from his busy schedule to lead us in music during our revival. Let s prepare for revival! Let s pray together as a church. Let s set aside our schedules for three days of renewal and refreshing in the Lord! Let s close our 50 Days of Jubilee with a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit!
