Leadership Team Meeting Minutes January 18, 2018 Friendship Room Pocahontas Center Attendance: Pastor Kris, Sharon Hauswirth, Allan Frevert, Carol Hallman, Moira Hopkins, Elaine Cook, Dixie Gotttsch, Linda Ferguson, Donnie McLain, Joan Reinhart, Gary Zhorne and Judy Pursley Sharon H. opened the meeting with a devotion and a prayer. Minutes were read silently and Carol H. called our attention to the last page where it talks about the Articles of Incorporation. It should have included these sentences inserted after the word "together". Carol moved that we approve and adopt the Articles of Incorporation for Hope UMC of Pocahontas County. Elaine seconded the motion and it was approved. Carol moved to accept the correction. Elaine seconded and the motion passed. She also said that she checked and we can use our existing federal ID #. Allan gave the financial report. In Dec. we had $39,867.53 in total offerings. This was more money received than in the last three years prior. Total offerings for 2017 were $217,344. Total offerings for 2016 were $8,252 less. We had Budgeted Expenses of $13,552.53 and the Cash in Budget Account is $37,838.30. Our Apportionment costs for 2017 was $3,284.08 monthly. This breaks down into four categories: A-General Church Council $677.75, B- Conference Ministries $1,886.92, C-Conference Missions $670.08, D-District $49.33. From May - October we have only paid parts A and B of $2,564,67. We owe $720.08 for parts C and D. November and December we paid nothing towards Apportionment giving us $10,888.64 in Apportionment not paid in 2017. January 2018 Apportionment will be paid in entirety. Our Pastor Support/Salary would normally cost us $6615.00 monthly. By not having a full time pastor for the six months beginning July 1 and taking into consideration the money we paid to Pastors Elijah and Kris and Pulpit Supply we still saved $25,291.00. Allan made the motion to accept the finance report. Gary Z. seconded. Motion was approved.

Leadership Team minutes p. 2 Mission Team Reports: Worship: Carol H. said that her team was working on Ash Wednesday (February 14) and Easter (April 1). The Christmas decorations were removed from the church before Rachell Powers' funeral. March, April and May services will be held at Havelock and Pocahontas. The sign needs to reflect the new start time. Outreach: Elaine told us that they met last night and are looking for a group to give a concert. Education: Senior Potluck will be May 6. We have six seniors graduation this year. The Lenten Small Group Study He Chose the Nails by Max Lucado is being ordered. They are working on VBS. Missions: The Mobile Food Pantry is January 24 and men are needed to help close Dixie said. Ann Harrison will be Secretary Pro Temp when Judy Pursley isn't available. Judy Boysen will be Dixie's co-chairman. We meet monthly to plan the Free Supper which is the 27th of this month We received a certificate acknowledging our support for JFON at the end of the year. UMW: Joan reported that Dixie's committee served at Rachell Powers' funeral There will be an executive meeting in February with a general meeting in March. Carol told us that the Articles of Incorporation were sent to the Secretary of State and she has prepared the Articles of Dissolution for the three churches. She made a motion to have Dr. Chris Radig, Sharon Hauswirth and Vicki Kerns sign the papers Linda seconded and the motion was passed. Pastor Kris thanked Candace Larson and Linda Ferguson for filling in for her so ably when she was sick. She asked if anyone wanted to go to the Lay Speaker course. She then asked what time the Ash Wednesday service was held. The secretary read aloud a section of the minutes from January 18, 2016 that stated that the service was moved to 5:30pm because of good attendance. Next Meeting is February 8, 2018 at 7:00pm. Elaine made the motion to close. Gary seconded and the motion passed. Pastor closed with a prayer. Submitted by Judy Pursley Leadership Team Secretary
