Luke 9:28-36 Agape UMW Circle The Agape Circle will meet Wednesday, January 23, at 11:00 a.m. in Simmons Parlor. Church Council The Church Council will hold its first meeting Monday, January 28, at 6:00 p.m. in Reynolds Chapel. All Council members are expected to attend, but all members of the congregation are invited to attend. Vashti Giving Day The annual Giving Day for The Vashti Center, headquartered in Thomasville with an office here in Bainbridge, is Sunday, February 3. The mission statement of The Vashti Center says that With God as our cornerstone, we foster healing, hope, and transformation to empower and promote resiliency in children, families and communities in Georgia. Through a residential program for children ages 10-18 and community programs, The Vashti Center seeks to bring healing and wholeness to young people, their families, and the community. Our own Natalie Kirbo is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Vashti Center. Please make a generous gift to this ministry that has a presence in our community! (If you are donating by check, please make it payable to the church and mark for Vashti. ) 2019 Confirmation/Church Membership Class The 2019 Confirmation/Church Membership Class began Sunday, January 13, during the Sunday School hour in the Library. Confirmation/Church Membership Class is for youth in sixth grade and above and prepares these young people for making a profession of faith in Jesus as Savior, entering into the professing membership of the church, and embarking on a life of discipleship. The class will be received into membership on Sunday, April 28. One of the highlights of the Confirmation/Church Membership Class is going to the Confirmation Retreat at Epworth By The Sea. This year the retreat will be March 1-3. Please contact Pastor Mike for more information and/or to get your student registered! United Methodist Men s Chicken and Rice Dinner Our United Methodist Men will hold a Chicken and Rice Dinner on Sunday, February 10, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the J.O. Smith Building. The cost is $7.00 per plate, and tickets are available from UMM members, UMYF members, and the Church Office. The funds raised will go to the various ministries supported by our United Methodist Men. Food Bank Food Items Needed: Peanut Butter (16 oz), Dried Beans (16 oz), Evaporated Milk (12 oz), Canned Soups (10.5 oz), Chunky Soups (18 oz), Canned Vegetables Green Beans, Corn, Tomatoes, etc. (14.5-15 oz).

Still Waters Still Waters is a nondenominational, faith-based, temporary residence for women and children. The ministry relies on volunteer help and donations of items. They are always in need of the following: Trash Bags (13 gal.), Paper Towels, Toilet Tissue, Kleenex Tissue, Dishwasher detergent, Dish detergent, Laundry detergent, Dryer Sheets, Vinegar, Bleach, Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Soap, Deodorant, Towels (new), and Washrags (new). Mike Brown Music Notes Children s Music and Arts Ministries: Our Preschool Music and Arts and Children s Worship Arts are happening! Join us on Wednesday afternoon/evenings! Two Year Old Music Group (for ages 18 months-2 years old): meets on Wednesdays in the Circle Room from 5:30 to 5:55 p.m. We ll welcome our new little ones in joining us for developmentally appropriate music activities, including: singing, playing instruments, movement, and social interaction. Preschool Music and Arts (PreK 3-4): meets on Wednesdays in the Circle Room at 6:25 p.m. for developmentally appropriate music activities and then moves to the Arts and Crafts Room for Bible stories and art from 7:00 to 7:25 p.m.

Children s Worship Arts (Grades K-5): ): meets on Wednesdays in the Drama Room from 6:25 to 7:25 p.m. Now is a great time to join us we are starting work on our spring musical, which will be presented Sunday, March 24! Chancel Choir: rehearses on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m., with warm-up for Sunday Worship service at 10:30 a.m. in the Choir Room. This is a great time to join as we begin the new season! Come and be a part of the musical legacy of our church family! Youth Choir (Grades 6-12): rehearses on Sundays at 4:30 p.m. in the Choir Room. Now is the perfect time to join! All youth in grades 6-12 are welcome! Join us now as we begin to get ready for our future performances! Handbell Choir: rehearses on Sundays at 5:45 p.m. in the Bell Room. We have positions open, so if you have ever wondered what it s like to be part of a musical group, join now! It will be an exciting time! We are beginning our new season and expect to have more performances. Ask any Handbell member or Curtis Robinson if you have any questions. Children s Chat We have Movie Night this Friday from 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Make sure you sign up with Ms. Ida by Thursday so she will have enough snacks. Check out the bulletin board by the nursery! Look under the hearts for the letters, unscramble the letters to find a Bible verse, look up the Bible verse, and read it to one of the Nursery workers for a surprise! Youth News Our Youth LOCK-IN will be this Friday, January 25, starting at 10:30 p.m. and ending Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. See Ridge or Jenny Harper for more information. Come and bring a friend or two!!! DNOW is coming! DNOW will be February 15-17. Registration with $35.00 fee is due by Thursday, February 7.
