3rd Meal Question In the waiting room of the Ichilov Medical Centre, patients and their relatives waited anxiously for their various medical procedures. Some passed the time saying tehillim or learning Torah. Others paced back and forth nervously or chatted among themselves. Shlomo had already been there for several hours, and he was starting to get hungry, so he went out to the cafeteria to buy himself a chocolate bar. He nibbled away at the expensive chocolate bat until suddenly he heard his name called over the loudspeaker. He forgot about the chocolate and ran into the doctor s office. When he came out, he found the person who had been sitting next to him eating his chocolate bar. The nerve of that guy, Shlomo thought to himself. What does he think he s doing, stealing my chocolate like that? He stared at the chocolate thief with an angry expression, but like some kind of idiot he failed to get the hint, and just kept on eating one square of chocolate after another. Does he have no shame at all? Shlomo wondered Felling that it would be inappropriate to make a public scene over chocolate bar, Shlomo bit his tongue, but in his heart, he was furious and cursed the thief. Then, another name was called over the loud speaker. The chocolate thief dropped the remainder of the chocolate bar onto the table and ran into the doctor s office. With a grimace, Shlomo took the little that remained of his chocolate bar and went home, still fuming over the incident. When Shlomo got home, he opened his bag and was amazed to find not one but two a half-eaten chocolate bars. He wondered for a moment and then all of a sudden realized what had happened. Now the tables were turned. It was not the other man who had stolen Shlomo s chocolate. Shlomo had stolen his! Now all the nasty thoughts he had against the other man turned back on himself. He went back to the hospital to try and find the man and ask his forgiveness, but he did not know his name, and the hospital staff was unable to identify him. What should he do now? Find out at Shalosh Seuda with Rabbi Rothman.
Welcome Charlie Harary And now for something completely different.
