May 2018 WELCOME TO OUR NEW SENIOR PASTOR, DR. JEFF JAMES May 02 Journaling Bible Study starts 03 S.A.M. Luncheon 13 Mother s Day & Baby Dedication 20 Memorial Day Service (1 week early) 30 VBS Canvas Night We are pleased to announce our new Senior Pastor, Dr. Jeff James. Bro. Jeff has served faithfully as our Youth Minister at FBC Fisherville for over nine years. We welcome Jeff, Kim and their sons, Will and Caleb. June 04-08 Vacation Bible School 23 CentriKids Camp 29 Lifeline Screening

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-13) In 1982, First Baptist Fisherville called as her pastor a 32 year-old seminary student named Jack Moore. This began a relationship which lasts to this day, with Bro. Jack serving as Senior Pastor for at least 25 of those years. The character of the man and the church grew together. This week, First Baptist Fisherville has called as her pastor a 37 year-old seminary graduate who has already had a relationship with her, and with Bro. Jack for nearly 10 years. The character of the men and the church have grown together over that time. No two pastors are quite the same. No two churches are quite the same. Pastors and churches grow together as each learns from and experiences the character of the other. Accepting and celebrating new pastoral leadership is as much a test of the character of the church as it is the man. Having been both one of the people in the pew when Bro. Jeff James was called as Youth Minister and having served in the pulpit along side him on the ministry staff, I have seen the character of both the man and this congregation. I am convinced that God has led FBC Fisherville to this point and to this Pastor. I look forward to seeing how we will continue to reflect the character of Christ as we continue to grow together. We will be doing this fantastic musical!!! It will be a night of music and testimony and a highly evangelistic event featuring hit songs by artist such as Jesus Culture, Natalie Grant, Big Daddy Weave and Brad Paisley. Rehearsals will begin Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:30 PM. Please come and join the choir and help us to make this a night of praise that truly honors God and what all He has done for us. Bart Star LifeLine Screening will be at FBC Fisherville on Friday, June 29. Pre-registration is required. Call 1-888-653-6450 to register. Blessings, Dr. Gary Redding
