TUSCOLA CHRISTIAN Publication of First Christian Church, Tuscola, Illinois Celebration of Forgiveness & Healing Thursday, April 13, 2017 6:30-8:00 pm Dr. Paul Boatman will be speaking and hosting a Celebration of Forgiveness and Healing on Thursday, April 13th. This informal service will enable all persons attending to participate as they are comfortable. The goal is to enable a personal experience of healing, grace, and freedom from the heart- burdens we carry. We hope you will join us. Everyone is welcome to attend. April 16, 2017 Easter Celebration One Service @ 9:30 am Join us for a special celebration of the Resurrection of Christ! One combined service at 9:30 am. Children classes available. Corner Cafe will be available before the service. Sunday school classes will not meet. April 2017, Vol. 57 1

New Short Term Study Class Wednesday, April 12th 11:30 am Prime Timers for April will be a Soup and Sandwich luncheon at FCC. The special program will be music presented by Sarah & Elena Birchenough. Lunch provided. You don t need to bring anything but yourself and a friend! Come and join the fellowship and celebrate Easter season. PRAYER CIRCLE We continue meeting to pray every Wednesday evening at 5:30 pm. You are welcome to join us as we pray for our church family, leadership, and our nation. We will meet each Wednesday in April. DR Mission Trip Update We are busy planning the details for our short term mission trip to the Dominican Republic the Nirst week of June. Plans are to leave on Tuesday, May 30th. We thank you for your prayers and for your Ninancial help. In the foyer are yellow envelopes, numbered 1-148. If you would like to support those going on the trip, choose an envelope, place that amount of money in it and put it in the offering plate or hand into the ofnice. We are excited about doing what God has in store for us on this trip. More updates coming as we get closer to the leaving date. Thank you. April 2017, Vol. 57 Were you taught the theory of evolution or that the age of the Earth is millions of years old in school? Only to be taught what seemed opposite concepts in Sunday School? Did it leave you with a disconnect, or wondering if indeed God s Word is totally trustworthy? Many of us did, and many of us are seeing our children experience the same disconnect. They have questions, and so do we. The truth is, no one was around when the world was spoken into existence by God, so we will not have the complete answers until we get to heaven and ask Him directly! But we can give ourselves and our children permission to ask the questions and look at scientinic evidence through a Biblical worldview; not with the intention to prove the Bible based on science, but so that we grow in knowledge, trust and faith in God and His Word. A new Sunday School series beginning April 23 (for 3-4 weeks) will take a look at science through the lens of the Bible. We will watch and discuss a Ken Ham DVD entitled Science ConNirms the Bible. The DVD answers the 10 most asked questions about the Bible and science, answered by Ham through his belief in a literal interpretation of the Earth s beginnings as presented in the book of Genesis. The study will be held in the 5th- 8th grade Sunday School room, across from the restrooms in the northwest hallway. The study is open to anyone over 5th grade! We would love to have a good mix of young people, teens and adults to stir good conversation! Greeting time is at 9:15 am and the DVD portion will begin promptly at 9:30 am, followed by discussion. If you have any questions, contact Alta Long. 2

We are returning to the format suggested by the folks at 95Network. We have made some progress in our discussions on our comprehensive calling and discernment process. Reminder: there is still room for anyone who is interested in joining Chris Brown in the Financial Peace University class. Dave Dundas wanted to announce to the men about registration for the Iron Sharpens Iron Conference to be held in Champaign on April 8 th. A note about the survey on the Circle Maker found in the bulletin. If you participated, please let us know how your experience was. If you did not participate, please considering joining the next all- church study that may come in the future. Just an added note: Thank you for all the prayers and patience as we all go through this time of transition. If you ever have any questions about where we are on an issue, please do not hesitate to contact myself (Brian Dean) or someone else on the transition team. If we don t have an answer for you, we will Nind the answer and get back to you. Thank you. April 2017, Vol. 57 3
