St. Colman April 13, 2014 Page Two PALM SUNDAY As we begin this most sacred of all Christian times, Holy Week, we should strive earnestly to make it a time set apart for God.. Holy Week is the time in which we prepare our hearts and minds for the miracle of Easter. It is a time to reflect: to bring your mind to bear on the marvelous gift of salvation that Jesus merited by his victory on Calvary. Reflect in gratitude and faith. It is a time of prayer: to express to the Lord your gratitude, your neediness and your genuine desire to be different. Ask for the strength and guidance of the Spirit to accomplish these tasks. PASSION (PALM) SUNDAY A Family Perspective The cruel death of Jesus tells us bad things can and do happen to very good people. Its also tells us God is present during the suffering. Bad things happen but God never abandons us. THE GOOD FRIDAY PONTIFICAL COLLECTION Every year, each parish in the United States takes up a collection on Good Friday, as designated by the Holy Father. This collection helps support the work of the Franciscans in the Holy Land. The money is used to care for the people and places of the Holy Land. This collection keeps Christianity alive in this area made holy by life, suffering, death and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
