PASTOR S CORNER Dear People of St. Sharbel, COME HOLY SPIRIT! Today we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit, the birth of the Church and the beginning of its mission in the world. Pentecost Sunday reminds us that our lives are filled with the Holy Spirit and God can accomplish miraculous things in us through this gift of His Holy Spirit. We have been entrusted with this great gift of the Holy Spirit. Now is a good time to ask: Are we being good stewards of this gift? Do we give thought to the Holy Spirit s promptings in our life? What have we done to glorify God s work of the Holy Spirit in us? Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and enkindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created and You shall renew the face of the earth. The good news is that Pentecost does not only happen in church on a specific Sunday. It happens wherever we are, whenever we open ourselves to the work of the Holy Spirit. The promise of the Spirit is that we will come through the pain of the Cross to the joy of the Resurrection. So what does Pentecost mean to us today? It means we have an Advocate who is ever ready to assist us whenever we call upon Him! Come Holy Spirit, pour forth a fresh anointing in our lives! The first Pentecost, 2000 years ago, was just the beginning of many Pentecosts to follow. The Holy Spirit is available to us today on this Pentecost Sunday as well. Just as the disciples let go of their fears and were filled with joy, so we can experience the same. Jesus, who said Peace be with you to the disciples so long ago, is saying the same to us today. The Holy Spirit is God s presence to us today. What a wonderful gift we have! MAY CROWNING Our Grade 2 First Communicants did a beautiful job with the crowning of the Blessed Mother at the 9:30 AM liturgy this past weekend. These young children showed such love and care in presenting both the flowers and the crown for Mary. We are proud of you! Congratulations! May God continue to bless us with everything that we need, and more! Sincerely yours in Christ, Chorbishop Alfred Badawi 2018 GRADUATES HONORING OUR GRADUATES We at Saint Sharbel Church will acknowledge our 2018 High School and College graduates with a Liturgy in their honor on Sunday, June 10th.
