If you think are leading and no one is following, you are just taking a walk. Fan the flame

When people act independently rather than interdependently, the Body can suffer. Fan the flame

God smiles when churches are Spirit dependent and wisely structured.

Meeting Needs God s Way Acts 5:41-6:7 Combustion

5:41 Then they went out from the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be dishonored on behalf of the Name. 42 Every day in the temple complex, and in various homes, they continued teaching and proclaiming the good news that the Messiah is Jesus. 6:1 In those days, as the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint by the Hellenistic Jews against the Hebraic Jews that

their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution. 2 Then the Twelve summoned the whole company of the disciples and said, It would not be right for us to give up preaching about God to handle financial matters. 3 Therefore, brothers, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and wisdom, whom we can appoint to this duty. 4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the preaching ministry.

5 The proposal pleased the whole company. So they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte from Antioch. 6 They had them stand before the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them. 7 So the preaching about God flourished, the number of the disciples in Jerusalem multiplied greatly, and a large group of priests became obedient to the faith. Acts 5:41-6:7

It s inevitable Needs arise when God is at work 5:42-6:1... they continued teaching and proclaiming the good news... In those days, as the number of disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint..

Being alive creates needs. Combustion

God never intended our focus to be on our needs but on the God Who can meet our needs. My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

[1] Lots of people and [2] li2le 3me to adjust produced great pressure. fan the flame

Our focus should be Godward and our needs should nudge us to Him. That s how we love and interact with people.

Don t forget You can t get too busy and not minister to people 6:1... there arose a complaint by the Hellenistic Jews against the Hebraic Jews that their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution.

Jesus ministered to the whole person. He was concerned with real people and the real needs they faced.

combustion It s a mistake to think, If God is present, there will be no problems or needs. Meet the Hebraic and Hellenistic Jews

Addressing needs provides opportunities for us to work. fan the flame

The need to give good care for both groups opened opportunities for God to work. fan the flame

Ministry, like life, is not segmented into spiritual and physical categories. spiritual PHYSICAL

I d give my life to be able to minister like that. That s what it takes. fan the flame

You can believe it - As God grows the Body, God grows the leaders V 6:6 They had them stand before the apostles who prayed and laid their hands on them. So the preaching about God flourished...

God grows what God leads. God leads what God grows. Combustion

Three marks for God s leaders: good, godly, gifted. of good reputation, full of the Spirit and wisdom Acts 6:3
