Surah An Naziat (Ayah 27-36) أ أ نت م أ ش د خ ل ق ا أ م الس م اء ب ن اه ا- 27 Ayah Are you more difficult to create, or is the heaven that He constructed? The word بناها means to construct. (يقول اهلل تعالى مبينا دليال واضحا ملنكري البعث) Ayah 27-33 gives clear evidence to those denying the resurrection.(ومسfffتبعدي إعFFFادة اهلل لFFFألجFFFساد life( will bring the bodies back to سFFFبحانFFFه وتFFFعالFFFى and to those who deny how Allah Notice that the focus is on the body though it is the soul that is more complicated. The word لFFF ي ل ه ا) (و أ غFFF ط ش means to make it dark مFFFظلمة).(جFFFعله The darkness goes everywhere, to all sides of the - (و أ خFFFFF ر ج ضFFFFFFFFFFFF ح اهFFFFF ا). All the righteous good deeds take us out from the darkness of ignorance and fitnah. Our messengers are our stars who give us light to سFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFبحانFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFه walk in our path. Darkness makes us appreciate the light. Sky is showing us the vastness of Allah vast., we need to broaden our thinking and be وتعالى The alteration between night and day is a sign for us. In Surah Al Furqan, Allah سبحانه وتعالى tells us: و ه و ال ذ ي ج ع ل الل ي ل و الن ه ار خ ل ف ة مل ن أ ر اد أ ن ي ذ ك ر أ و أ ر اد ش ك ور ا And He it is Who has put the night and the day in succession, for such who desires to remember or desires to show his gratitude. (Surah Al Furqan 25:62) Night and day in succession is for us to remember or to show gratitude. Yet, we learn from other ayat that only few are grateful. Our test is to be grateful and content with what we have. We are not being tested by the earth, sun, moon, etc. Our test is our self, the people and the shaithan. In general, the container we dwell on is not our test, our test is with the contents of the container. -2-

و األ ر ض ب ع د ذ ل ك د ح اه ا- 30 Ayah And after that He spread the earth;.(أودع فيها منافعها) it. preserved benefits in سبحانه وتعالى After the creation of the skies, Allah It is suiting for us to live on top of the earth and it is suiting for the dead to be buried under the earth. In Surah As-Sajdah, Allah وتFFFFFFFFFعالFFFFFFFFFى سFFFFFFFFFبحانFFFFFFFFFه tells us that the earth was created first and in this surah we are told that the earth was prepared later- there is no contradiction. Though it was created first, it was prepared later. The next ayat tell us how it was prepared. The next ayat tell us how the earth was prepared. أ خ ر ج م ن ه ا م اء ه ا و م ر ع اه ا- 31 Ayah And brought forth therefrom its water and its pasture; He did not explain this ayah as the meaning is apparent. Allah سبحانه وتعالى brought out its water- rivers, springs, etc. and its pasture. He brought out water and food from the earth. It was already prepared and Allah وتFFFFعالFFFFى سFFFFبحانFFFFه brought it out. The meaning of this ayah is clear- Allah سبحانه وتعالى brought out the water and pasture from the earth. و ال ج ب ال أ ر س اه ا- 32 Ayah And the mountains He has fixed firmly; Ayah 32 and 33 are further explanation of how the earth has been prepared. It is as if the earth was not.سمآء stable and the mountains fixed the earth in place. This was after the creation of the The mountains are fixed in the earth ( األرض فFFFFي.(ثFFFFبتها The Qur an is teaching us all this- we need to believe in it and not ask how it is possible. -3-

Allah وتFFFFFFFعالFFFFFFFى سFFFFFFFبحانFFFFFFFه fixed the mountains in its place أمFFFFFFFاكFFFFFFFنها) فFFFFFFFي وأثFFFFFFFبتها.(قFFFFFFFررهFFFFFFFا He is the All-Wise, the All- Knower, the Most Compassionate and the Most Merciful to His creation. م ت اع ا ل ك م و أل ن ع ام ك م -33 Ayah (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. سFFFFFFFبحانFFFFFFFه وتFFFFFFFعالFFFFFFFى سFFFFFFFبحانFFFFFFFه وتFFFFFFFعالFFFFFFFى Without water, pasture and stability on earth, we cannot live in peace. Allah gave us all of this in order for us to focus on our job which is worship. The sun, moon, water, animals, food are all for our benefit for us to do our job! This ayah is not explained. Allah وتFFFFFعالFFFFFى سFFFFFبحانFFFFFه brings out the spring and makes it flow. He makes apparent the things that are inside أنFFFFFFFFFFFFFFبع عFFFFFFFFFFFFFFيونFFFFFFFFFFFFFFها وأطهFFFFFFFFFFFFFFر) lively. and has benefits (water, oil, rivers, etc.). He makes the rivers flow and makes it.(واشجارها وثماوها وثبت جبالها) fruits. Plants grow and trees have (مكنونها وأجرى أنهارها وأنبت زروعها Allah وتFFFFعالFFFFى سFFFFبحانFFFFه prepared all of this for the creation to dwell in duniya. Imagine what He has prepared for the believers in Jannah!. May Allah سبحانه وتعالى grant us Paradise. Ameen. He prepared all of this so that the dwellers of the earth settle in peace and stability. بFFFFFFFFFFFFFأهFFFFFFFFFFFFFلها).(ليسFFFFFFFFFFFFFتقر Allah doesn t need any of this, it is for us, human beings and for the cattle. But, it is all for a سFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFبFحFانFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFه وتFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFعFالFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFى temporary purpose. All of this is disposable, and imagine that we are attached to the disposable things! We will dwell longer in our graves than on the earth, yet we are attached to this temporary place. We need to furnish our graves with good deeds. Our graves will be dark and it our good deeds which will give it light. But most people want tangible and they want now. We need to focus on the intangible and long to get it later. Whatever Allah وتFFFFFFFFFFعالFFFFFFFFFFى سFFFFFFFFFFبحانFFFFFFFFFFه has given us in this duniya is perfect for us here, but it is not more than what has been prepared for the believers in paradise. Only Islam gives us the true enjoyment of both lives. ف إ ذ ا ج اء ت الط ام ة ال ك ب ر ى -34 Ayah But when there comes the greatest catastrophe (i.e. the Day of Recompense, etc.), After all the previous ayat for the one who is denying the resurrection and is completely indulged in the duniya, this ayah tells us that the greatest catastrophe- which is the day of resurrection will come all of a sudden. -4-

The day of resurrection comes as great catastrophe الFكبرى) الFقيامFة جFاءت.(إذا It is the greatest calamity we will witness الFFFFFFFFFFFFFFعظمى).(والشFFFFFFFFFFFFFFدة Any other problem is easy and minuscule compared to the calamity of the day of judgement يهون عندها كل مصيبة).(التي May Allah سبحانه وتعالى protect us all on that Great Day. Ameen. Shaithan magnifies this temporary life and its concerns in our eyes- we should not be deceived and prepare for that day instead of being indulged in the issues of this world. The believers know the reality of this world and they know that there is a greater calamity that will come, that s why they are not affected by worldly issues. Yusuf السFFFFFFFFالم عFFFFFFFFليه and Ya qub السFFFFFFFFالم عFFFFFFFFليه had problems yet they did not make it a big deal because they knew there was something bigger that was coming ahead. Allah وتFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFعالFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFى سFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFبحانFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFه shows us bigger problems to make us feel like our problems are nothing in comparison. In رou daily lives, when our children complain to us, we feel that their issues are petty and minuscule compared to the issues we face as adults. But we need to know there is no catastrophe greater than the day of resurrection. It is overwhelming. All the people will flee away from each other on that day, a nursing mother will drop her nursing child. Now we need to grab every opportunity to prepare for that great day and to go to paradise. Ibn Abbas رضي اهلل عنه said that it will be on top of any other calamity- there is nothing greater. When you know about this, the akhirah will be your concern. There is no problem worthy of concern more than that day. We worry about the duniya but we need to suppress ourselves, have taqwa and remind ourselves of the greater calamity that will occur. This is how to make therapy for yourself. To stress over matters of the duniya is not the way to bring solutions. ح د ث ن ا ه ن اد ح د ث ن ا و ك يع ع ن الر ب يع ب ن ص ب يح ع ن ي ز يد ب ن أ ب ان و ه و الر ق اش ي ع ن أ ن س ب ن م ال ك ق ال ق ال ر س ول اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وسلم " م ن ك ان ت اآلخ ر ة ه م ه ج ع ل اهلل غ ن اه ف ي ق ل ب ه و ج م ع ل ه ش م ل ه و أ ت ت ه الد ن ي ا و ه ي ر اغ م ة و م ن ك ان ت الد ن ي ا ه م ه ج ع ل اهلل ف ق ر ه ب ني ع ي ن ي ه و ف ر ق ع ل ي ه ش م ل ه و ل م ي أ ت ه م ن " الد ن ي ا إ ال م ا ق د ر ل ه Anas bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said: "Whoever makes the Hereafter his goal, Allah makes his heart rich, and organizes his affairs, and the world comes to him whether it want to or not. And whoever makes the world his goal, Allah puts his poverty right before his eyes, and disorganizes his affairs, and the world does not come to him, except what has been decreed for him. [Jami` at-tirmidhi Vol. 4, Book 11, Hadith 2465].الطامة الكبرى This ayah explains what will happen on ي و م ي ت ذ ك ر اإل نس ان م ا س ع ى -35 Ayah The Day when man shall remember what he strove for, -5-

We need to remember the day of judgement while we do our deeds now. The Qur an makes us live our present with future vision. These ayat help us to overcome laziness and to grab every opportunity to prepare for that great day. We do not want to be among those regret and grieve on the day of resurrection. الFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFسعي مFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFادة ربFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFحه) What we strive for in life is very important, it is what determines our success or failure off, We need to strive to do good and not to do sin. Everything we have in the duniya will be cut.(وخسfffffffffffرانfffffffffffه only our deeds will remain with us. ح د ث ن ا س و ي د ب ن ن ص ر أ خ ب ر ن ا ع ب د اهلل ب ن امل ب ار ك ع ن س ف ي ان ب ن ع ي ي ن ة ع ن ع ب د اهلل ب ن أ ب ي ب ك ر ه و اب ن م ح م د ب ن ع م ر و ب ن ح ز م األ ن ص ار ي ق ال س م ع ت أ ن س ب ن م ال ك ي ق ول ق ال ر س ول اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وسلم " ي ت ب ع امل ي ت ث ال ث ف ي ر ج ع اث ن ان و ي ب ق ى و اح د ي ت ب ع ه أ ه ل ه و م ال ه و ع م ل ه ف ي ر ج ع أ ه ل ه و م ال ه و ي ب ق ى. ع م ل ه ". ق ال أ ب و ع يس ى ه ذ ا ح د يث ح س ن ص ح يح Anas bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (S.a.w) said: "Three follow the deceased, two of them return, and one remains. He is followed by his family, his wealth, and his deeds. So his family and his wealth returns, and his deeds remain. [Jami` at-tirmidhi 2379] The money, people, etc. will not come on the day of resurrection- but how the money was spent, how people were dealt with- these are what will be taken to account. Now in life, we tend to remember how others dealt will us, but on that day we will remember how we dealt with others. The son of Adam will remember all the good and evil deeds he did. و ب ر ز ت ال ج ح يم مل ن ي ر ى -36 Ayah And Hell-fire shall be made apparent in full view for (every) one who sees, The Hell-fire will be made apparent for its dwellers ألهFلها) ظFاهFرة.(جFعلها Not every body can see it, but I need to worry and strive in order I do not see it. To see the torment before experiencing it is a torment by itself. The word بFرزت means it will be apparent for its dwellers. It will be ready to seize and take them. Hell-fire is.(منتظرة ألمر ربها) and is waiting for His command سبحانه وتعالى angry with them for the sake of Allah -6-
