ABSTRACT The Title: The contribution of the Endowment in supporting the Scientific an Educational Foundations in Makkah Al-Mukarram during Othmani Era and the suggested Techniques to Develop its Role in the Present Age from the Perspective of Umm Al-Qura University Staff Members in Makkah Al-Mukarramah. Prepared By: Hind Bint Husseing Mohammed Gasim Hariri. A Dissertation for Ph.D This study aims at: I-knowing the concept of endowment and its importance in Islam. 2- knowing the political, economic and social status in Makkah Al-Mukarrama during the Othmani Era. 3- The contribution of the endowment in the social life during that age. 4- The contribution of the endowment in the scientific and educational foundations in Makkah Al- Mukarrama during Othmani Era. 5- Aproposed conception to revitalize the support of the endowment to the scientific and educational foundations in Makkah Al-Mukarrama in the present age. Methodology: The study used the historical method and the descriptive method in the theoretical part. In order to activate the proposed conception the study used the survey descriptive method. A questionnaire was prepared to measure the perspective of a sample of Umm Al-Qura University staff which is the study community. After preparing the measurement and checking its credibility, it was applied on the prescribed sample. Then, the study used the appropriate statistical techniques to reach the results. The dissertation involved the study overview which contains six chapters: study overview which contains the study plan and previous studies. Chapter one: The endowment concept and its importance in Islam. Chapter two: The political, economic and social status in Makkah during the Othmani Era and the role of the endowment in supporting them. Chapter three: The contribution of the endowment in the social life in Makkah during the Othmani era. Chapter four: The contribution of the endowment in supporting the scientific and educational foundations in Makkah during the Othmani era. Chapter five: contains the field study when members of the university staff have been asked about the suggested techniques to develop the role of the endowment in supporting the scientific and educational foundations during the present period. Results and Recommendations: The results: 1 The endowment during the Othmani era was based on the faith of the person. 2 The endowment has contributed actively in the scientific and educational procession in Makkah Community. 3 The endowment allocations were not allocated to a certain category but cover all the categories of the community in Makkah at that time.4 - The fields of the endowment are diversified covering the scientific and the educational foundations and it comprised all the needs of education during that period. 5 The contribution of the endowment in raising the level of education in Makkah. 6 The role of the endowment in supporting the educational and training programs in Makkah. 7 The establishment of data base for the scientific and educational foundations at the local, regional and international level. Recommendations of the study: 1 The contribution of the media endowment in serving the educational process. 2 The activation of media role in generating endowment culture. In addition to emphasizing its role. This means paying great attention from those who are concerned with thought, education and media and their role in probagating dawa. Moreover, informing people about the benefits of the endowment. 3 Working hard on building endowment network to serve the scientific and educational issues between Islamic countries to struggle the pressur from great powers which give debts and compel the poor countries to follow certain policies. 4 The contribution of the endowment in executing projects that serve these foundations, to find jobs for graduates. 5 To pay special attention to issues related to endowment, especially those related to the movement of the endowment and its conditions to avoid any misconduct. ھ
