DIVINE RECITALS 2018 19 - Music and Sloka Achievements The year 2018-19 saw PSBBNGM students win prizes at various events held across the city. The following are the achievements- Music Competitions Sri Suprabhatha Sabha The 6 th prize was bagged by the bhajan team of PSBB NGM in the inter-school competition held on 5.8.2018. They were selected for the final round, competing with 8 others schools from Chennai. Tambras Bhajan Competition- The 5 th place was secured by the bhajan group of PSBB NGM in the competition. Each student was awarded a gift prize and the school was given a shruthi box. This competition was held in Mandaveli conducted by Tambras Tamil Nadu Brahmin Association. The members of the team are:- M.S Bhargav XI-B Akshai Kanna Shriya Vishnuram IX-A Vibha Murali Sruuthi.S Tejas V X-A PM Angiras IX-B Ananya Krishnan IX-B Shrinidhi IX-B Archana B XII-C Diksha Krishnan XII-B Vani Mahal- Bhajan students of PSBB NGM were given the opportunity to perform on the classic stage of Vani Mahal on 30.8.18. The school was given a cash memento of 5000. The performance which lasted for an hour and a half, was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience who were all avid music enthusiasts. Oothukadu Venkata Kavi Competition- Aparnaa.G of class XII B won the first place in the Senior Girls Category. Her performance was highly appreciated by all. This competition saw students from various school render the compositions of Oothukadu Venkata Kavi. Devi Kanyakumari Music Festival-This competition was held on 4.11.2018.It was held at PSBB T-Nagar. Shriya Vishnuram and PM Angiras won prizes at this competition.
C.P Ramaswamy Iyer Foundation- PSBB NGM won the 2 nd prize and Akash Muthukumaran IX-B won the Best Actor award in this sanskrit drama competition that was held at CP Art Center Alwarpet. Sanskrit Essay Competition-was held by Shri Kamakshi Vidya Samithi.The winners are Aakash Muthukumaran IX-B Ananya Anand Srinivasan XI-A A.Swetha SLOKA COMPETITIONS: D.K.S.S.I COMPETITION (5/12/18) There were a series of Sanskrit competitions Drama,Antyakshari,Amarakosham,dance and Katha Kalakshepam that were conducted in PSBB TP ROAD on 5/12/18 starting from 9:00 AM.Students of PSBB NGM actively participated in all events and won a many laurels for the school. SANSKRIT DRAMA: The drama team of PSBB NGM bagged the fourth place in this and the drama was highly appreciated by the judges. Akash of 9-B was recognized as the Best Actor in the drama and received a special prize. The drama team consisted of: 1. Swetha 2. Rithanya 3. Nivedita 4. Bharath 5. Arjun X-B 6. Srivatsan IX-B 7. Sloka Antyakshari: Two teams from PSBB NGM participated in this competition competing with 15 other schools from Chennai. This event tested the memory power, presence of mind and the spontaneity of the participants who had to recite a Sloka starting with the ending letter of the Sloka told by the other team Team1: 1 Sai Sriya 10-C 2 S.Srivatsan 9-B 3 S.Deepak 11-B Team 2: 1 Namrata 9-D 2 Ajai Krishna 10-A 3 Aadithya 12-C Team 2 consisting of Namrata, Ajai Krishna and Aadithya won the second place in the competition. Amarkosham: Sreya 9-B and Arjun 10-B bagged the fourth place. The different ways of chanting God s names was tested in this competition. It was a sanskrit Thesuraus which saw active participation from many schools. Kathakalakshepam: Also known as Harikatha, this was a competition in which students narrated various stories from mythology in Sanskrit in musical form. PSBB NGM won the third prize out of nine schools. The students who participated were MS Bhargav Akshai Kanna Shriya Vishnuram Vibha Murali Ananya Krishnan Archana B XI-B IX-A IX-B XII-C Bharatanatyam Competition- It was a colourful event, and the dancers competed enthusiastically. 6 th prize was won by the team from Nungambakkam at this event. SLOKA ANTHYAKSHARI COMPETITION This was a competition organized by Sri Kuppuswamy Shastri Institute. Namrata Davey of 9-D won Rs.4000/- cash award. S.Srivatsan and Akash Muthukumaran of 9-B participated. EGMORE SANSKRIT GITA RECITATION: On 20 th,26 th and 27 th of Jan 2019 the students of PSBB NGM participated in the Bhagavad Gita competitions at all levels- single chapter three chapters six chapters and all eighteen chapters held at Egmore at 12 noon.
