During the Panguni Uthiram Festival: (i) Abhishekam to Sree Moolavar (Lord Swaminatha) will be accepted for performance both in the mornings and evenings from 6th to 12th April 2014. On Uthiram Day (13.04.2014), Abhishekam to Sree Moolavar would be accepted for performance in the morning at 8.00 a.m. only. Poornabhishekam / Mahabhishekam / Abhishekam to Sree Utsava Moorthi at 11.15 am immediately after KAVADI procession would be booked. Abhishekam to Sree Moolavar would not be accepted for the evening of 13.04.2014 due to Sandana Kappu ; Abhishekam to Sree Karpaga Vinayakar would be accepted on all days both in the morning and evening except on the evening of 6.4.2014 due to Sandana Kappu. SURYA POOJA (from Thursday, the 20th to Monday, the 24th March 2014) This is symbolic of LORD SURYANARAYANA Himself propitiating LORD SWAMINATHA. In several temples, Poojas are performed on a day when Sun rays fall at the feet of the Presiding Deity through a special opening in the ceilling. At Uttara Swamimalai there is no such opening, yet through the eastern portal, the rising Sun's golden rays illuminate the entire idol of LORD SWAMINATHA not on one day only but on all five days consecutively. NOOTHANA RAJAGOPURAM, PUNARUDHARANA ASHTABANDHANA MAHA KUMBHABHISHEKAM AT UTTARA SWAMI MALAI Gopuram NOTICE FOR THE KIND INFORMATION OF DEVOTEES AND AN APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE With the benign blessings of Lord Swaminatha, the Board of Management of the Samaj hopes to complete the construction of Raja Gopuram by the end of April 2014 and the entire temple complex will be ready for sanctification and performance of Maha Kumbhabhishekam. An auspicious date will be fixed in consultation with Veda-Aagama Pandits and after getting it approved by Sree Kanchi Kamakoti Peetadhipathi Jagatguru Sri Sankaracharya Swamigal, the Maha Kumbhabhishekam will be held. The Management of the Samaj has started advance action by constituting several Committees to consider various matters connected with this great event. The Finance Committee, after examining all minute details, has concluded that the entire cost of the function would be around Rs.70 lacs. The major items which would entail heavy expenditure are: 1. Construction of an exquisite Yagasalai by expert artisans; 2. A strong shamiana, decoration, lighting, mike arrangements; 3. Wide publicity arrangements 4. Travel expenses, sambhavanai to Sivachariars, Vedic Pandits, Oduvars, Paricharakars, Cooks, external Nadaswaram party etc., 5. Purchase of brass vessels in various sizes - numbering 400; 6. Purchase of clothes for presentation to participants, Vedikai (Yaga) requirements, temple priests, Nadaswaram parties, temple staff, Sthapathi etc., (This includes items of nine yards silk sarees and 9x5 silk dhoties); 7. Procurement of Yaga Draviyas - locally and from South (Chennai); 8. Arrangement of garlands and flowers (Needed quantity); 9. Procurement of grocery items for cooking in: (i) Yagasalai Kitchen (ii) Temple Kitchen and (iii) Kitchens for guests at different places; 10. Annadhanam for five days - procurement of all needed grocery items; 11. Boarding & lodging arrangements for Invitee guests; and 12. Any other sundry and unforeseen expenses; Devotees may donate in units of Rs.10,000/-, Rs.5,000/-, Rs.1,000/- and Rs.500/- to meet Sambhavanai, purchase of clothes and vessels and Annadhanam expenses.
