Q&A with AVERY AVERY answers questions about his life, experiences, and good memories Which words describe your personality? Selfless, genuine, honest, ethical, shrewd, loyal, trusting, kind, ruthless (when needed), composed. Describe your strong sides: I am very stubborn when I know I m right and can be persuasive with arguments. At the same time, I am very collegial and listen before I speak. Although I am stubborn I enjoy being corrected on matters of import, as I always enjoy learning when I am wrong. I am very competitive during competition, but ultra relaxed with nothing much at stake. I have never been in a real fight and don t look for them. I am a type B personality generally. I easily get along with almost all people. It takes a lot to rub me the wrong way or annoy me. I have very few enemies and many friends. I have had a core group of friends since childhood friends I ve grown up with since high school. They are some of my closest relationships and I value them nearly as highly as my familial relationships. I am a loyal person and don t easily betray the trust of those who trust me. Describe your weak sides: I can be over-emotional, but in an internal sort of way. Sometimes I think certain things (the way people react to me, for example) are much more a reflection of the way I act than they really are particularly when things go poorly. I can be hard on myself. I am not as extroverted as I d like. I wish that I was more easily social I have no problem talking to people, but interesting conversations don t develop as easily as I d like. With my close friends, this is no issue of course, only with people I don t know well, I have a hard time opening up immediately. I can be too stubborn. I can be introspective to a fault sometimes. List any other hobbies you may have or have had: I play saxophone; I have a strong interest in politics and history (on these topics I remain somewhat of a general sceptic and libertarian oriented with my politics). Q&A with AVERY AVERY answers questions about his life, experiences, and good memories What is your most memorable childhood experience? Probably fighting with my brother! He s knocked out three of my baby teeth (one boxing, one by sitting on my head, one by throwing a touch down pass into the fence which I caught!). All of these things happened when I was under 8 years old. My brother and I have a healthy brotherly relationship and it takes up much of my childhood memories/thoughts. Which countries have you visited? England, Spain, France, Italy, Scotland, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, Israel, Egypt. Describe one of your favourite vacations to another country: I ve been to Israel the past 2 summers for 3 weeks and I plan to go back for a month this summer. I love Israel the people are beautiful and blunt; the beaches and heat are intoxicating; everyone lives life to the fullest there all the time I can t get enough. What do you like the most about your own country? I love my country. The multicultural nature of America the lack of a real national identity. Anyone can be an American as long as they believe in freedom and liberty and equality under the law. I remain in awe of the United States history, particularly its founding which is one of the most remarkable times in the history of the world (in my opinion). The freedoms people have here civil, economic, political are unrivalled in any country in the world. The opportunity that immigrants continually seek in this country. The degree to which you can get by via merit, rather than heritage, is special. The innovative nature of the people and our willingness to fail are exceptional as well. What is your favourite colour?
