Garden We thank Jan & Phil Horner who have volunteered to look after the Church garden. It has been suggested that we could have some ceramic pots at the front and side especially to replace the plastic ones, 20 will allow us to purchase a quality pot plus some money towards plants to put in them. If people would like to donate some money towards them please speak to Paul Garratt. PrayerNet PrayerNet: The idea is that people pray, in their own homes, for Ambergate and the surrounding areas. You are invited to do this at some point during the set 2 hours and so the whole village is covered in prayer. This is on the 3rd Monday of the month from 6-8pm. In June it is on Monday 19th June. If you have specific prayer requests for situations or people then please contact: Bridget Baty 07969 599383 grantbridget@aol.com Take a Break Take a Break is the café, from 2-4 pm in the school rooms, on the second Wednesday of every month. Dear Friends I have recently received a brochure from Leger Holidays about taking groups to see the Passion Play at Oberammergau in 2020. This play is world famous and performed in the village of Oberammergau only every 10 years. The village of Oberammergau is in Bavaria in the shadow of the Alps. In 1633 a plague descended on the area and many people died. The villagers made a solemn vow that, if their lives were spared the whole village would perform the play every 10 years, depicting the story of Christ's suffering, death and resurrection. Miraculously the plague did not claim any more lives and so true to their vows, the villages of Oberammergau enacted their first play in 1634. The tradition has continued without interruption every decade since, in spite of wars and other problems. In 2020 it will be the 42nd time it has been performed and it is expected that around half a million visitors will attend in 2020 (there are obviously a lot of performances!) If you would be interested in going, please would you contact me so that I can gauge whether or not it would be worth making further enquiries and looking to put a group booking together. Thank you Helen Penfold Helen.Penfold@methodist.org.uk
