A message from the Church Council June was a busy month for Council with end of financial year and preparation for our Annual General Meeting to be held on 28 August. The resignation of Pastor Ben Pearson was obviously significant and difficult for all. We feel it is important to keep you up to date with plans for the immediate future of Northreach in light of that. Typically, Baptist churches in Queensland take 6-12 months to get a new Senior Pastor in place. We acknowledge, though, that our God is not a God of the typical and He will do things in His timing whatever that may be. For some time we have been seeking an additional pastor to work in the area of discipleship and have had a pastoral search team in place who have been working very hard in seeking God s person for this position. Given our new circumstance, Council believes that we should not proceed with this appointment at the present time. Rather we need to reconsider what we need as a church and Council has, therefore, released the pastoral search team from their role for the time being. In doing this we believe we need to truly discover what God s vision is for us, and in the light of that, review the existing position descriptions for the Senior Pastor and Discipleship Pastor roles. This will enable us to seek those whom God will use to help us pursue God s vision for Northreach. It is extremely important that at this time we all pull together as a church to seek Him for His vision and those He has for these new pastoral appointments. As a Council we are acutely aware that God does not want us to just stop while we look to fill these positions. We strongly believe He will continue to lead us and guide us. Each one of us has an important role to play as we are and need to be the church whether or not particular staff positions are filled. Northreach is about Following Jesus, Reaching People. It is important that we clearly identify the vision that God has for how we do that. Council will work to engage with staff and the church as a whole as we seek God s vision. The coming months will be demanding but we believe exciting, as we get on our knees and humbly seek what God wants of us. He will provide pastors in His time but in the meantime He will also provide everything we need. God has richly gifted Northreach so let s all use the gifts that He has given us, individually and together, to be the church He wants us to be. Please continue to pray for Elders, Management Team and staff and our church as a whole as we move through this current phase in the life of Northreach. Pray also that we come increasingly under God s direction as we strive to follow Jesus and reach people. Tony Grice - Chair of the Council

News from the Administrator Well we are off to a busy start to the new financial year. All budgets have been prepare and are looking to be approved at the AGM along with many other items. Our AGM is on the 28 th August when we will provide more detail about how we have gone this year around the premises and our financial detail. Reports are due to be distributed in the first 2 weeks of August. For the month of June, the general offering was over budget by $5,475.82, which brought our overall shortfall for the year to roughly $36,500, about 5.8% behind budget. Throughout the year we have curbed operating expenditure to reflect this shortfall and have kept an eye on ministry expenses, yet allowed for some capital improvements. Missions giving was down $2,460.91 for the month of June. To the end of the financial year, the mission s budget was roughly $11,750 (10.9%) behind budget. While we are still able to provide the ongoing support for our current missionaries in the field, it limits investing in future projects when they arise. In relation to electronic giving to the church, if you would like to give to the general offering please enter offering into the description field on your transaction. If you would like to give to missions, please enter missions into the description field on your transaction. This will reduce the burden of data entry for the team. The bank account details can be found below. You will notice on the way in to the café, we have a serving board that displays the areas of ministry in which you could serve. Please have a look at the board at the back of the auditorium, and email your interest to serving@northreach.org.au, or let the information desk know and we will put you in contact with the right people. If you are interested in serving in the church, whether in administration, communications (website, network news, etc. ), in services, or around the property, we are always in need of extra assistance. Please send an email to serving@northreach.org.au or call Robyn in the church office on 47232371. God Bless! Please be praying for the nominees and the decisions that will be made. Northreach Constitution Revision Update Northreach s current constitution was approved by members at the 2016 Annual General Meeting. At that time it was agreed that it should be reviewed after it had been road-tested for 18 months. The Constitution Review Group, consisting of Paul Welch, Jenny Elliman and Tony Grice, has, after a period of consultation, produced a revision that was provided to Council members in late July. It was subsequently provided to all members. A forum to discuss and take questions on that revision will be held in the café from 7pm on Tuesday 7 August. This will be a final opportunity for Church members to have input into the review prior to consideration by the Elders, circulation of the final revision to members on 14 August, and decision at the Annual General Meeting to be held on 28 August. All are welcome to attend the forum on 7 August. ALSO OLD SPECTACLES Please place all donations in the YWAM box in the foyer.
