COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL..ONLY FOR PRIVATE STUDY ================================================= BERTUS In the past I already have brought to your attention to follow ONE teaching and ONE principle whilst studying and n o t to follow two or more teachings and principles at the same time. This only leads to confusion, mixing teachings and chaos. Joel says it in a harsh but clear way in 8806 - may 1957 Holland class, from which I quote: -------------- start quote------------------------ JOEL Now, I give you that as a principle, and according to our teaching that is the correct letter of truth in so far as it refers to supply, and if you were to work with that principle, eventually, you would develop that consciousness. But supposing you work with that today and then tomorrow start to work with something about how to attract money and the next time about how to get a Cadillac car. Do you see what I m getting at? If you haven t a correct letter of truth, you have three or four letters of truth, and you have nothing but chaos. ------------ end quote ----------------- BERTUS: In your interest... let this be to your benefit. Follow ONE teaching and ONE principle until you - after deep meditation - will be led by God any further and do NOT allow to let you lead by others because some person thinks some teaching interesting or nice.
What some-one thinks is not your concern -- as Joel says. Turn yourself within and meditate and ask de Lord for Guidance, which Way to follow, Wisdom, etc and you will be led to that teaching that at this moment is in conformity with your state of Consciousness and does suit you. Stay there until you will again be led any further etc. etc. Moreover Joels says in above class this too: ------------- start quote --------------------- JOEL: Always, in following a spiritual path remember this: Nowhere in our writings does it say that everyone should follow The Infinite Way. Nowhere does it say that only The Infinite Way is truth. Nowhere does it indicate such a thing, but it does say this: For each one there is a way, and if each one were to turn within themselves and pray, they would be led to their way. They would find their teacher and their teaching, and they would receive a principle by which they could live, but it isn t possible that all the people in the world can receive or respond to just one approach to truth. To begin with, there are three levels of consciousness: material, mental and spiritual. There are people on the material plane of life who could never be mentally or spiritually healed. Nothing would ever heal them but medicine or plaster or surgery or electricity because they are geared, their whole life is geared to a faith and belief in something they can see, hear, taste, touch or smell, and they cannot get beyond that. For those people to believe that they are going to find something on the mental or spiritual plane is often very disappointing. Usually, they have to end up by going back and living with their material plane because that has become reality. In the same way, there is a mental plane of life, and you will find that there are many, many people who can be mentally healed who cannot be spiritually healed. If they can find a practitioner who can just sit down and know the truth and know the truth and pound the
truth into them and give them affirmations and denials, they can get healings, and yet they often will not respond to spiritual truth. --------------end quote ------------------------------
COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL.. ONLY FOR PRIVATE STUDY. =========================== Every message is not for everyone. 1962 Mission Inn Closed Class Joel S. Goldsmith 453A - Special References for Study and Practice...there are many metaphysical and spiritual approaches to life. Every one of these that has been given to the world through a seriously dedicated individual is good. There are lots of approaches that just do not measure up to integrity, that have no real worth, because they did not come through the consciousness of those prepared for it. And for this reason, every individual must be able to go within themselves to find the message, not only that is a message of integrity, but also to find the message that is for their own state of consciousness. Every message is not for everyone. I don t really believe that any one message is for everyone. At least, so far in the history of the world, there has never come forth any message suitable for everybody. The reason is that we are different states and stages of consciousness; we evolve differently. As a matter of fact, we may find that a message that we start out with must later be abandoned for another. For this reason then, every student should consider very seriously before they make their final decision to follow a particular path. There is no harm and there is a lot of good in taking advantage of the freedom that all of us have in the free countries: freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religious worship. We more especially should avail ourselves of this freedom to search for our teaching. If we re led to Unity or Christian Science or New Thought or Infinite Way or any of the Oriental teachings, it is our right to investigate; it is our right to read. And as we do, and as we meet the different teachers of different movements, if we refrain from listening to our friends and relatives and go entirely by our own inner feelings, we will be led to the one that is for us.
When we feel the rightness of one, we should abandon all others, because the principles of each teaching differs, and anyone who tries to ride two horses in the same race will just get into trouble. There is no way of studying and practicing the principles of one teaching and at the same time be trying to study and practice the teachings of another. Remember, I ve said that this should not limit us in our reading or the attending of lectures or classes until we have arrived at the realization that, This is the one; this is the one I m going to follow. Now, here s what happens if, in your experience, The Infinite Way proves to be your message. The very first citation here is the chapter The New Horizon in The Infinite Way. In this chapter you will find the basic principles that led to this becoming a teaching of its own. You will understand why other methods of healing will not mix with this one. You will quickly see that in our work it is not necessary to know the name of the patient; it is not necessary to know the name of the disease; it isn t even necessary to know whether it s a disease or a business problem, although there are times when it is helpful to know some particular problem that is disturbing the individual, as, for instance, if it is just a physical or mental claim, you will find that all of the necessary principles for the development of consciousness in healing these conditions is to be found in this chapter The New Horizon in The Infinite Way
