A NEW CHURCH DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY 24toDouble is NOT a church growth program. It IS an entire church discipleship model. Ephesians 4:11-12 is the foundation of 24toDouble. Over the next 24 months, we will seek to develop seven teams that will address the needs of our neighbors, our congregation, and our community. Dr. Robert J. Brink Senior Pastor Jamie Conkling Worship Arts Pastor Jerry Mitchel Pastor of Visitation Stacy Krull Director of Children s Ministries & Preschool Director Marge Harvey Day Care Director Nancy Krick Office Manager Notary Of course, this is all foolishness without the dynamic hand of God upon us. Therefore, we are praying that Jesus Christ will guide us to make right decisions. Our seven teams will include: Outreach Front Door Shock and Awe Worship Follow-up Children and Youth Small Groups We will implement a New Testament structure to our ministry. They will utilize the gifts structure of Ephesians 4:11-12. Apostle Teacher Prophet Pastor Evangelist Here are three questions that we will want to ask How are we doing at BEING the Church in our community? Whom has God uniquely gifted this church to reach? Are we ready to do whatever it takes to reach them? Becoming Disciple Makers, Dr. Robert Brink

MISSIONARY OF THE MONTH WORK TRIPS and you will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth. Although Jesus spoke these words thousands of years ago, it is true that He continues to depend on us to spread His light in this darkened world. Obviously, we can support many missionary efforts from the comfort of our everyday surroundings and it is important to do so. Or, we can shake the dust from our sandals and take advantage of other opportunities that present themselves rather routinely. Participating in a work trip is a great way to expand your horizons. You might be surprised how the Lord can use you. There is an opportunity for folks to use the skills that are common to their profession. Opportunities also arise to expand into areas of work/ministry not previously considered. Those who are very skilled work alongside others whose contribution might be simply to carry on a friendly conversation with a homeowner who needs to hear about Jesus. While we all can benefit from leaving our comfort zone, it certainly is a growth experience for those young people who are able to work with veterans of previous trips as, together, they experience other cultures and lifestyles. The types of trips in which we participate are quite varied in nature. In January of 2017, several of our DCOG family went on two trips to the Dominican Republic. One trip was dental in nature and the other was medical. Both were in affiliation with Barnabas Task, a ministry we financially support with Faith Promise funds. At the end of May, we have a group travelling to the Los Angeles area. They will be working with Skid Row and Dream Center folks to take aid to the homeless and destitute. Currently, there are twelve people scheduled for this mission. Many of these are the youth of DCOG. If you would rather not travel so far, we have another group travelling to Kokomo, Indiana, to work on tornado damage repair. June 18, 2017 is the departure date. This is a joint effort with the Salem Magley Church. There is currently a signup sheet on the table in the church lobby. In the past, we have worked with Bittersweet Ministries to work on construction projects in Mexico. We have also spent weeks in Eastern Kentucky to work on flood damage. Allowing Jesus to work through us on these trips provides experiences that may never be gained in any other way. The work is never easy but it is so rewarding to know that the love of Jesus is being carried to people who cannot only hear it in words but also see it in practice. Thank you Jesus for being with us during the past few months. Thank you church for the many prayers said for Jerry s healing. We are thankful for our family, friends, church, the many cards and thinking of you notes sent to us. Jerry appreciates each note that came to him. Thank you to each Pastor for their visits and prayers with us. Jerry is doing well with his therapy but has a ways to go to be able to do as he used to. During surgery, he suffered a stroke that affected his left side. Thank you to our Sunday School class for the gift card that was used for gas to the hospital. We love our church and feel blessed to be a part of it. Jerry and Donna Gerber

Members Present: Co-Chair Dennis Call and Dave Anderson, Recording Secretary Pam Mitchel, Senior Pastor Robert Brink, Stu Keller, Karen Baker, and Mike Geyer. Approval of Minutes with Corrections October 13, 2016 May 11, 2017 Review of Financial Report Board and Committee Updates A letter from Rev. Diana Graves was read and reviewed. Stu Keller is recruiting a Teller Coordinator. Dave Anderson has asked that the position of Interim Treasurer cease by the end of the 3rd quarter. The Elders went over the notes taken from the youth parent meeting. They were encouraged by the thoughts given by the parents. How are we going to move forward on getting an Interim and hiring a Youth Pastor? The first step is to clarify the duties for the Interim position. Pastor Brink and Pam Mitchel will meet to define the duties. Pastor Brink is going over the current job descriptions of the staff. It was discussed that it would be good for evaluations to take place every 3 months. Karen Baker reported that the Wednesday night suppers have a good group of volunteers. Stu Keller gave us updated information regarding the Brokerage Account. A motion was made that we proceed with Decatur Church of God opening a Brokerage account through Edward Jones with Chris Colpert as our agent. Dennis Call as the President of the Board of Elders will be on the account as well as the Chairman of the Finance and Equipment Committee, Wylie Sirk, as the Authorized financial agent. Motion seconded and carried. Mike Geyer reported on the Sunday School Secretary position. It was suggested that the adult classes could collect their own offerings and give to needs in the Church, community, or other places where they see fit. Mike will talk with Stacy Krull about possibly incorporating that into Gigville. We will continue the discussion at the next meeting. Mike asked if it was a policy that testimonies needed to be approved first before given. It is encouraged but not required to have testimonies recorded and viewed on the screen. However, we do not discourage Holy Spirit inspired testimonies. Karen Baker suggested it could be valuable to have a Caring Ministry for the seniors in our congregation. Stu Keller handed out a paper draft on the Finance, Equipment and Technology Committee. This will be addressed at our next Elder meeting. Pastor Conkling gave us a proposal for a drum enclosure opportunity. The request was referred to the Board of Finance and Equipment. The Worship Corner From the desk of Pastor Jamie June 2017 Edition Our choir will be taking a rest from rehearsal in June. Our thanks to each member who has diligently given their time for practice and worship time weekly. God richly blessed our services with your bountiful words in song. Be the SALT! Pastor Jamie

Again this year, DCOG will be working with the Salem Magley Church to repair tornado damage in Kokomo, Indiana. We will leave Sunday June 18 th and return Friday June 23 rd. The cost for this trip will be $20.00 a day. There may be Faith Promise support for this week. Projects this year include a home needing siding repair; a two-story home needing complete siding tear-off and replacement; one home requiring complete roof tear-off and replacement; minor drywall repair in another home. If you are at all interested in participating in this mission project, please sign up on the form located on the table in the lobby.
