Dear Friends in Christ, LET THE CHURCH SAY: AMEN! ALLELUIA! In the Gospel this week as in last week, Jesus stood in the midst of the disciples and said: Peace be with you. Peace is something that we are so desperately searching for in the world today. Sometimes, it seems like peace eludes us and even if we have a brief respite from life, peace that is offered and somehow comes upon us is so welcome. Thus, during this Easter season, I offer this as a hope and prayer: that the Lord s peace will touch your hearts and bring you comfort and joy. It is, after all, the season of Hope that was inspired in us by the Resurrection from the Dead of the Lord, Jesus Christ. We can feel the peace of the Lord if we really try and truly pray for it. As I said in the homilies last week, we seek the Lord, but sometimes fail to realize that He is present in our midst. If it truly is the peace of the Lord that you seek, then you will have it. One way or another, the Lord answers our prayers. We can use our Responsorial Psalm today as a guide: When I call, answer me, O my just God, you who relieve me when I am in distress; have pity on me, and hear my prayer!...lord let your face shine on us LET THE CHURCH SAY: AMEN! ALLELUIA! It is my sad duty to announce to you the death of Mrs. Helen Norbotten. Helen died in the Lord on March 8, 2018. Her funeral service was held on Saturday, April 7, 2018. Amongst her survivors are her daughters, Janeen Cappeart and Karen (Tom) Arnold and their families. We also note the death of Mr. Paul Frankovich. Paul died in the Lord on April 6, 2018. His funeral Mass was held here at de Sales on Wednesday, April 11. Paul is survived by his brothers, Joseph (Beverly) and James (Laurel) and his sisters Mary (Wayne) Gonder and Barbara Smith and other family members. Let us pray for the deceased and for comfort for the families. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them Amen. The Holy Spirit has truly been at work here at de Sales. On Holy Saturday night, we welcomed Madalyn Fae Tracy into the Church through the RCIA program. Then, last Saturday evening, we welcomed Christopher Robert Reid Jr., son of Diane Carlson, through the Sacrament of Baptism. Let us pray for these special folks as they now begin their faith journey united with Christ! Some people have asked about our roof fund for de Sales and Divine Infant of Prague. The questions were relative to when this (the roof project) was going to be underway and completed. My theory on this is as follows: I will not begin any building project (or any project for that matter) until we have almost 100% of the funding for it. The reason for this is obvious: if we don t have the money for it we have to come up with it somehow. That being said, looking at last week s bulletin, I find that we have approximately $63,267.87 in our roof fund for de Sales and approximately $17,042.10 for the roof fund at Divine Infant of Prague. A couple of years ago, we priced out what a new roof would cost for both churches. For de Sales, it was about $100,000 and at Divine Infant of Prague, the price of a new roof was approximately $20,000. I think that Divine Infant is quite close and will probably be completing their project soon maybe even this summer if we can get the remaining $2958 or so that they need (and, if the cost for the new roof is still in the $20,000.00 range). At de Sales, it may take us a bit longer. We need $36,733 to reach the $100,000 that we are seeking. In essence we are still taking donations for this and we are earmarking money for this project from those who donate specifically to this new roof fund. In the past, I have even directed some money to this fund from different things I had done (band, etc ). So, bit by bit, we are going to make it. One more immediate project that we must consider and begin to work on is the lighting of the Church. We may use some of our general funds for this because it is more efficient to use LED lights for the Church () rather than conventional lighting that usually does not last long and is very difficult to change when they burn out. As always, I am available for questions and consultation on these and any other matters concerning the Church buildings. The nice thing is that once these are accomplished, I won t have anything to do (maybe I shouldn t say that ) That s it for now. Our story continues. Pray for me as I pray for you! Remember: Smile! God loves you and so do I! Choose life! Loose $ 396.75 TOTAL: ~ Fr. Jesus told his friends it was okay to touch him. Jesus had bones. He had muscles. He had scars from the cross. Jesus even ate a piece of fish to show that his stomach worked okay. Yes, they had all seen Jesus die, but God raised him to life. Moses and King David and the prophets had all written about the Savior. The Scriptures all came true through Jesus. He really is alive. If you believe in Jesus, don't keep it a secret. Tell your friends that Jesus is their savior, too. Prayer God, give me the words I need. I want everyone I know to follow you.
