OUR MISSION Matt 28:19 Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life.... Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. The Message, E. H. Peterson WHAT HAS HE COMMANDED US? John 15:12 This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you. RSV Mark 12:37-39 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. This is the first and most important commandment. The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, "Love others as much as you love yourself." CEV
THE CONNECTIONAL CHURCH John 14:12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. NIV Eph. 4:15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. New Living Translation
Four Areas of Focus for Mission of the United Methodist Church Develop principled Christian leaders for the church and the world Create new places for people by starting new congregations and renewing existing ones Engage in ministry with the poor Stamp out killer diseases by improving health globally.
APPORTIONMENTS Under the leadership of Christ, the United Methodist church as a world-wide body accomplishes truly amazing things that no one church could do on its own! The financial cost of our local as well as world-wide outreach as United Methodists is distributed equitably (apportioned) among conferences and local churches so that the work of Christ is accomplished.
What do apportionments do? Visit www.umcgiving.org to order materials to educate yourself and your church about the importance of connectional giving. There are many FREE Resources.

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION FUND "We don t want anyone suspecting us of taking one penny of this money for ourselves. We re being as careful in our reputation with the public as in our reputation with God." --2 Corinthians 8:20-21, The Message This fund underwrites and finances general church activities that are administrative in nature, rather than program-related. Supports the General Council on Finance and Administration
APPORTIONMENTS ARE FIRST-MILE GIVING! Apportionments are called first-mile giving because they are the financial foundation for all of the global United Methodist Church s mission outreach. Apportionments also fund the necessary administration costs that are necessary to help unify us as one Body in Christ, allowing us to do so much more than any one church could do individually. When we fail to reach our designated apportionment goals, it impacts our outreach, and the blessing we could have extended will be diminished.

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING Once a year, a Special Sunday is set aside for an offering for UMCOR. This is the One Great Hour of Sharing offering. Gifts to this offering underwrite UMCOR's "costs of doing business." That helps us keep our promise that 100 percent of every other gift you make to a specific UMCOR project can be spent on that project-not on home office costs. UMCOR is a good steward of God's gifts. UMCOR s top ratings by both Charity Navigator and the American Institute of Philanthropy attest to UMCOR s financial accountability.

Five Reasons to support the Advance 1. YOU choose what YOU want to support. Do you believe in reforestation... promoting literacy... building new churches? Are you interested in Angola... Indonesia... Mexico... Kentucky? Would you like to covenant with a missionary? When yougive to an Advance ministry that you select, you express your faith in a personal way. 2. You do it within The United Methodist Church. All Advance ministries are related to annual conferences, central conferences, partner churches, or interfaith organizations; screened by the General Board of Global Ministries; and authorized by the General Council on Ministries. 3. You can be sure your money will get there. The General Council on Finance and Administration assures the accounting and transmission of every Advance gift. 4. Your gift makes a difference. Your gift will print a Bible...vaccinate a child...buy a bicycle for a pastor... dig a well... or whatever specific ministry you choose to support. Since 1948, millions of lives have been transformed --one at a time --because of an Advance gift from someone like you. 5. 100 percent of your gift goes to the ministry you choose! Where else can you choose what you want to support --and know that 100 percent of your gift will go there? This is possible because all administrative and promotional costs of the Advance are covered by other fund sources.
