All: You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. One: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. All: And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long. One: Let us worship God! *OPENING HYMN The King of Love My Shepherd Is #802 CALL TO CONFESSION

RESPONSIVE PRAYER OF CONFESSION One: If you had just poured out your love in creation, One: If you had revealed yourself through creation, but not made covenant with us, One: If you had made covenant with us and not entered into relationship with us, One: If you had just been in relationship with us and not fussed over us when we strayed, One: If you had called us to accountability when we strayed and not delivered us from bondage, One: If you had delivered us from slavery and not led us into a land of freedom, One: If you had led us into a land of freedom and not sent holy men and women to teach us your Way, One: If you had sent us prophets to speak of your love and not sent us a Savior, One: If you had sent us a Savior and not taken humanity unto yourself, One: If you had taken humanity unto yourself but not given us resurrection victory, One: If you had conquered the power of sin but not given us the gift of Holy Spirit, One: If you had conferred Holy Spirit but not called us to participate in your work of redeeming and blessing the world, SUNG RESPONSE TO PARDON Gloria Patri #581 Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. LET S CELEBRATE FPC S 157 TH BIRTHDAY TOGETHER! Everyone is invited to the Parlor immediately following worship next Sunday, May 14, for birthday cake in celebration of FPC s 157 th birthday! PROJECT SALINA CHALLENGE! We have been challenged! It is time yet again for the Project Salina food drive. First Presbyterian Church and Sunrise Presbyterian Church have been assigned cans/packets of tuna. Our friends from Sunrise have challenged us to join them in collecting a total of 1,000 cans of tuna, or 500 by each church. Project Salina endeavors to enlist the entire town to help fill the pantry shelves of Ashby House, Salina Rescue Mission, DVAK, the Food Bank and the Salvation Army for the rest of the year! Bring your tuna to the north lobby at the church anytime throughout the month of May. SUMMER SOUL-STICE BEGINS JUNE 6 Do Justice... Love Mercy... Are You Kidding?! Our sixth Summer Soul-stice series begins June 6, with this year s focus on the separateness and polarization we seem to be facing these days, individually to worldwide. How do we learn to listen to and talk with each other, and to love one another even in our differences? Come hear the ideas of an artist, psychologist, theologian, and community activists committed to programs of restorative justice and get involved in some thoughtful discussions. Dates are June 6 at the Salina Art Center Warehouse, and June 20, July 11, July 25, and August 8 at First Presbyterian Church in the Chapel. Also NOTE TIME DIFFERENCES: June 6 and 20 at 9:30 AM; July 11, 25, and August 8 at 12 noon. Look for more complete information in the May and June newsletters. Further questions ask Sydney Soderberg or Martha Rhea. NOTE OF APPRECIATION TO CHILDREN S STAFF As summer approaches, it is easy to smile when reflecting on this wonderful year of laughter, growth, and fellowship that we've had with the children of FPC! In reflecting, we must also note that the activities planned and spent with the children would not have been as successful if it weren't for the amazing staff and volunteers that help! The Faithful Bible Investigators are blessed with the assistance of Sarah Payne, Penni White, Betty Norman, Chloe White, Cora White, Ella Payne and Hadley Johnston. Our FBI-In-Training kiddos get to spend their time with Danielle Hix, Anita Thompson, and Debb Homman. If you see any of these lovely ladies, please make sure to give them a HUGE "thank you" for all of the time, love, and gifts that they bring to the lives of the children here at FPC! We are so grateful for each of them! HEARTLAND DAY CAMP REGISTRATION AND VOLUNTEERS FPC and Sunrise Presbyterian will co-host Heartland Traveling Day Camp (VBS) for all children currently in Kindergarten through 6th grades, to be held at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, June 12-16. Please register online at www.heartlandcamps.org. It's FREE for FPC members and guests so invite a friend! We still need volunteers to provide an easy meal prep for 5 young adult counselors on June 12 and June 14 and a lunch on June 16. This is a wonderful way to be involved with the children s ministry of our church. Contact Penni White to volunteer or for any questions.
