Third Sunday after Epiphany January 21, 2018 10:00 A.M. Green Prelude Three Quiet Preludes Gilbert Martin (You are invited to a time of quiet preparation for worship during the Prelude.) Ringing of the Bell Welcome and Informal Moments Choral Introit *Call to Worship P: We follow in love, transformed by the teachings of Christ. P: We follow in service, serving our neighbors as Jesus did. P: We follow in community, as Christ called and still calls the church together. P: We follow in praising our God with hearts, hands, and voices, as Jesus praised. Come, let us worship. *Opening Hymn Called as Partners in Christ s Service No. 353 Unison Prayer of Confession and Lord s Prayer Holy God, you call us to serve you and live our lives for you. When our thoughts, words, and deeds serve needs that are not yours, forgive us. When our lives are lived for purposes not founded in Christ, pardon us. Guide us as we serve, so that we may follow you faithfully. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray saying, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in

heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Words of Assurance Anthem O Taste and See RV Williams Scripture Mark 1:14-20 Becky Lenz, reader Time for Children (The children are dismissed to Church School until 11:00 am.) *Hymn Jesus Calls Us, O er the Tumult No. 304 Joys and Concerns Pastoral Prayer and Silent Prayer Choral Prayer Response Invitation to Offering Offertory Toccata, vs. 1 -- Zipoli *Doxology No. 44 Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen (As our morning offerings are brought forward, so too are the non-perishable food offerings from the basket in the Narthex for St. Philip's Food Pantry.) *Unison Prayer of Dedication Good and Gracious God, bless these offerings which we give to you. Bless our lives as we live for you. Use all that we have and all that we are to serve you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
