Newsletter 2 Our Redeemer Lutheran Church July/August 2012 Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Pastor s Letter Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, July/August 2012 The Apostles gathered around Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught. He said to them, Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while. For many were coming and going and they had no leisure, even to eat! Have you ever said to yourself or someone you don t know if your coming or going? I know that sometimes that s the way I feel especially during the busy parts of the church year - Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter, even following Easter our Parish life is so busy with new members classes and reception, Sunday School recognitions and Confirmation, graduations and moving ups - you name it! One does not know if you re coming or going! It must have been the same for Jesus. It is as if everyone wanted a piece of him, Just touch the fringe of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed. We all seek some healing. Maybe during these summer months we should heed Jesus invitation in the Gospel lesson from July 22 - Mark 6:31 - Come away and rest a while. Even Jesus knows that we all need a break - to get away from the coming and goings. All too often we fill our lives up with so much there is little room for rest, and most importantly God and the peace of God that goes beyond our understanding. Why do we always have to be busy? I ask you? Is it because we get our value out of being busy? This summer I encourage us all to empty ourselves and make room for rest. The healing of our souls and bodies are for God - the author of our lives, make room for Jesus. If you are traveling, visit another congregation and make room for Jesus. See how other people rest and worship and bring me back a bulletin. It doesn t have to be signed by the Pastor). Just bring it back to me. I wish you all God s blessings for a restful get away and the healing of your souls. In Christ, Rev. Ronald M. Klose, Pastor JULY June 30-5:00 PM July 1-9:30 AM July 7-5:00 PM July 8-9:30 AM July 14-5:00 PM July 15-9:30 AM July 21-5:00 PM July 22-9:30 AM Outdoor Service July 28-5:00 PM July 29-9:30 AM AUGUST August 4-5:00 PM August 5-9:30 AM August 11-5:00 PM August 12-9:30 AM August 18-5:00 PM August 19-9:30 AM August 25-5:00 PM August 26-9:30 AM

They made all of the decorations and practiced their songs all month. The performance was proof that practice makes perfect! We have come a long way. Our first Graduation programs consisted of the children sitting on the floor of the gym with their teachers singing their favorite songs they learned during the year, while their parents watched. Now it is a full stage show! Visiting past parents have told me that our Graduation was better than their child's Kindergarten one! What a compliment! The Toddler Class was the Opening Act for the show. They sang their favorite songs including "Happy Birthday" to celebrate Day Care's twentieth Birthday. Not one child shed a tear or ran to their parents in the audience! Their finale was dancing to "It's My Party and I'll Cry if I Want to"! The Pre-K's performance was stellar! The theme this year was "Down by the Sea." Each song was accompanied with hand movements. Many audience members (including this one) shed a tear when the eight graduates recited a sixteen-line poem about graduating! The whole show was fantastic. I would like to thank the children and their teachers for a job well done! Now we switch over to a summer mode. Many days of water play, picnics, walking field trips, and special days' will fill our summer. The learning still continues, but the outdoors becomes our classroom. Before you know it, we will be in back to school mode again! Until then, Happy Summer! Melissa Bires-McGee
