Our Mission To transform people, creating disciples of Christ who are devoted to living in a biblically-functioning community. Let s do our best to know the Lord. His coming is as certain as the morning sun; He will refresh us like rain renewing the earth in the springtime. (Hosea 6:3) CEV Well, he's done it again! The " Seer of Seers, Sage of Sages, Prognosticator of Prognosticators, and Weather Prophet Extraordinary" otherwise known as "Punxsutawney Phil" has predicted an early spring. As some of us attending the "Family Lock-in" at our church on Feb.1st into Feb. 2nd, we enjoyed watching the news coverage on "Phil's prediction". In great anticipation, Phil predicted what most people were hoping for! A loud cheer arose from the social hall as winter was finally over and spring was about to begin ahead of schedule! As goes life, like those banking on "Phil's prediction" soon found out that winter was NOT over, just when we think we are finally in our "spring" a wintery storm comes into our lives and we must plan to "weather the storm" that is about to come. Although the storm may come, we know that the time is ripe for spring, for new life and growth, and the time is ripe for Lent. The liturgical season of Lent coincides with spring, calling to mind the new life and growth, the hope and change, that should characterize this time of prayer, repentance, and conversion. Just as nature renews herself every spring, so during the Church's spring (lent) we are encouraged to begin anew. Lent is a time to challenge ourselves to choose better things - for our bodies, for our souls, and for our spirit. Joan Chittister says: "Lent enable us to face ourselves, to see the weak places, to touch the wounds in our own soul, and to determine to try once more to live beyond our lowest aspirations." Although life can be constantly filled with busyness, stress and the need to be productive and efficient at all times, why not try a different strategy and pace? Be transparent to GOD and to others. Spend time every day in silence and stillness. Treat it as a break from the frantic anxiety-filled world. It will be inconvenient some days, but we so desperately need it! As we enter this season of Lent, how will you make space for new spiritual growth? How will you do your best to know the Lord? Remember, His coming is as certain as the rising of the sun and when we get to know Him, He will refresh us like rain renewing the earth in the springtime. (Hosea 6:3) GOD bless, Pastor "D"

Thank you, also, to those who stopped at the funeral home and to those who dropped off food at our house. We greatly appreciate all you have done for our family. Tom, Stacey and family. The Worship Committee has been busy preparing for Advent and Easter. We purchased new Advent banners with golden palms for the altar area. Stacy Novak made bright, new welcome packets for the pews to welcome new visitors. They are beautiful! Ruby and Stacy have been busy making a schedule for our choirs. We continue to ask for volunteers to serve at the lectern either singing or reading the responsive readings from the hymnal. Both are needed every Sunday. The Lord wants to use our talents for His glory. Please feel free to contact me for suggestions to make our worship more inviting. Also, volunteer for leading worship. You are always needed.
