SCHOLARSHIP TAX CREDITS The Kentucky General Assembly is considering House Bill 134 and Senate Bill 36. These bills create a Scholarship Tax Credit Program in Kentucky which would increase tuition assistance for students who want to attend non-public elementary and high schools, including Catholic schools. Please use the link, https://www.votervoice.net/ccky/ Campaigns/55981/Respond to send your state lawmakers a message in support of Scholarship Tax Credit bills, House Bill 134 and Senate Bill 36. You can leave a message by phone by calling 1-800-372-7181. If you call, the operator on the line will assist you in getting the message to the correct Representative and Senator. Your voice matters. Make it heard by contacting your legislators today and encouraging others to do the same. SUMMER SOFTBALL LEAGUES Softball is back at St. Bernard! Monday nights will be a 40 and over league. ST. BERNARD ANNUAL PICNIC MOONLIGHT MADNESS RIDES THURSDAY, MAY 17 6:00-10:00 P.M. FRIDAY, MAY 18 6:00-12:00 P.M. SATURDAY, MAY 19 5:00-12:00 P.M. As always, WE NEED YOU! No matter how you are a part of this St. Bernard Community, we depend upon each and every one of us to make the Picnic a success. We need everyone to step forward and help prepare, set-up, work, and clean-up to make this major fundraiser happen. So, beginning today, things are moving forward in these areas: CAPITAL PRIZE: Currently, the Picnic Committee is considering various options and what direction we need to take on this year s Capital Prize. Once we have made that decision, more information will come your way hopefully in the very near future. When we have made that decision, we again depend upon you to please sell your chances. If we get rained out, this will help make up some of the loss of revenue. TOYS & GAMES BOOTH: Again this year, we will have a TOYS & GAMES Booth. It will be easier and we think more profitable. MARCH has been designated to bring in TOYS & GAMES. Items should be worth at least $5 each. BASKET BOOTH: This booth is always a crowd pleaser and your donations make it successful every year. You can fill your basket with just about anything. Pick a theme and have fun with it. U of L; U of K; LOUISVILLE BATS BASEBALL; PICNIC OR PARTY SUPPLIES; SPORTING GOODS; POOL TOYS; KITCHEN ITEMS; PET SUPPLIES; ETC. ETC. APRIL has been designated to bring in BASKETS. Baskets should be worth at least $5. GALLON GOODIE BAGS: Gallon Zip Lock Bags filled with kid s toys and items geared for smaller children are needed for the Kiddie Booths. Bags should not be worth more than $2 or $3. MAY has been designated to bring in GOODIE BAGS. Donations of Toys & Games, Baskets and Goodie Bags are accepted anytime during the week in the Parish Office and unless they contain perishable items, you may bring them anytime from now until the picnic. CAKES: We need a lot of cakes to make this booth successful. In addition to cakes, we will gladly accept pies, cookies, brownies or other goodies. You can bring your donations to church beginning Thursday evening of the Picnic. WORKERS: As we stated earlier, it takes a lot of volunteers to make a Summer Picnic successful. Even though we were voted the 3rd Best Picnic in Louisville by a poll taken by LEO Magazine, our biggest complaint is We don t have enough booths. The only reason we don t have enough booths, is that we can t get enough volunteers to run the booths we have, much less add more. Every year we go to Horner s Novelty and pick out prizes for the booths. And, every year, we see so many great items we would love to get, if we had someone to Chair the booth and get workers. One more time: We are all responsible for the success of our Picnic! Sincerely, St. Bernard s Picnic Committee Kevin Steier Vivian Reverman Alicia Stallard Mike Wilson Fr.
